Instead of new races, we should get alternative body shapes for the races.

Most or FFXIV's races already are just stretched and (selectively) inflated Midlanders, which I'm fairly sure is handled in-engine so... it actually shouldn't be too hard to accommodate subtly different physiques? Given that that's already what most of them are, just

I'll never say no to more customization, but personally I don't see any sort of customization they can do to make the 5 different human races interesting. I'd definitely prefer some new races if it's a choice.

But they can't even get hrothgar right so who am I kidding?

That is oversimplifying it, while it is true that some models are "stretched" from midlander to other races those races still have their own skeleton, which are paired with their own animations, any alteration they make would have to fit into these limitations unless you're asking for them to add new animations as well, or this will happen

While I’m all for more customization options, I personally dislike this idea. Like what another poster said, I wouldn’t want to be constantly reminded that I’m a fat ass lmao. Plus, the things our characters do in this game are physically demanding. It wouldn’t make much sense for a bunch of fat people to be on a battlefield. (Now, I get that lalas on a battlefield don’t make much sense either because of their small legs and running from explosions would be a hassle, but I can believe in the idea that they’re running faster than the average taller races to make up for it.)

The other ideas like tall auri women or shorter vieras to me kind of destroys the idea behind their designs/lore. (Also, I don’t recall where it’s mentioned that taller auri women and shorter auri men exist.) Plus, there’s the obvious thing that this would take ages to implement. I’d much rather want the dev team to focus on adding more hairstyles, faces, separating Au ra faces and horns so they can better mix and match, fixing Hrothgar hair, more face paint options or the ability to add two different face paint options together, etc.

(Also, I know you didn’t mention him, but the image of a hulking muscular G’raha will haunt my dreams. I got a good chuckle out of that. xD)

I'd vote for bigger boobies.

I won't say no to alternative body types for existing races, but I don't think it will happen.

Q: With Viera and Hrothgar being the last new races to be introduced to the game, are there any plans on adding more base customization options to the established races?

A: As long as it doesn't affect the shape of the body or the different faces, and if these are in fact the last races that we are going to be adding then there is a possibility that we might expand on that customizable element. If the customization involves changing the shape of the face or the body, we would have to address all the different gear that the characters can equip, and with the sheer volume of how much gear we have, we would have to go in and manually update. It is quite difficult. Rather than that, we might have to look at it when we cross this bridge, but if it is a customization option that significantly changes the shape of the races body, I think we would be better off to tackle the challenge of just introducing a new playable race all together instead.

It was texture stretching they cited as being a concern if they decided to make the sliders more...generous.

XIV is a bit strange in that gear does not overlay clothing meshes/textures onto a base character model when changing it and rather changes out that part of the body entirely, which is why there can be a bit of disparity with body proportions between different pieces (Minfilia's top and the 2B bottoms being the most notorious examples).
