The neighborhood is the best aspect of housing to me and many RPers and builders.

As for decorating well it is a learning curve to decorate as it is with raiding. The system they have is far from good but you can make amazing interiors with it with effort. Look around and visit venues and see what people have done. I wouldn't be against upgrading the building but it works, it is highly customizable, and tests your imagination and creativity. It is far from the worst building/housing I have seen in a game.

A bold claim. Someone clearly hasn't experienced Aion Online's housing during its peak.

The stipulation there is "in its prime."

Have you experienced the FF14 housing when the player base was lower? You could just walk into a ward and basically get any plot you wanted. Easy as that.

there is no game in the world that says "oh you have enough of everything be able to get anything ? oh well too bad so sad you cant have it unless you get lucky" not a single game does that except ffxiv's housing system.

99% of the people literally never ever see their neighbours online at the same time same day and even if they are on they are busy in a duty or raiding or somewhere else so that imaginary "social neighborhood" idea is just an imagination

instanced housing makes it hard to have visitors... this open world system is better than anything instanced, and that is the end of it.... what would be cool is if they made it the Star Wars galaxies way and also increased each map so it would take 20 minutes or more to cross each map at max speed, that way you could have playerhousing placed in groups.. implent a city feature and make own cities that is not just FC thing, once city is having a high enough level then you can upgrade with an aetheryte... and that way sort of being able to cross port the worlds, could even skip out the MB... and make it so you need to goto actual cities to buy stuff and such, but having a search marketboard feature, that would guide you in this or that direction of where to acquire X thing.

That would make it for a better game overall and in general, and actually enhance the way you interact with the game... and mentioned cities that would pop up here and there.... what MMOs need today is explore modes... and actually travel to make it more real or a better feel that you actually are in a world, could also be cool if could park your mounts outside the Cafe or whatever you went to.
