I've gotten to a point where Im almost ready to give up on Mch. I would love to see them take some of the utility and complexity from pre-ShB and infuse the new rotation with it. Make adjustments to key abilities and synergize the heat gauge and battery gauge and make the queen something to build up too and feel like an actual high end ability. Give us back some of the utility, a mobility ability, and Id like the old turret system to come back. And have your heat tie into, like you have the turret out or summon the queen and while its out use 50 heat to do a special move or something. I dont think they need to completely change the class. I think if they could find a balance between the old mch and the new and with the Brd and Dnc, things would be a lot better. I personally am fine with giving up the idea of being the "selfish" dps, if my contributions to a raid/party were felt.
At this point I'd take anything, they need to either rework us into a support or give us an option to be punished for greeding with the walking casts. I think the whole community is in agreement that we need to go either of these routes, the way the job is, it cannot be expanded upon or even given new skills as its kit is fleshed out, but its "fleshed out" in a way that feels like they went down a checklist and gave us the most generic option for each tick. I really want some class idenity back so I would love for the turrets to return. Dancer and bard have unique concepts instead of a 123 combo in pve, I'd love machinists casts to be the thing to make all 3 ranged feel different from each other. I can't gush over the pvp incarnation enough.
I was surprised by how satisfying it felt to use Blast Charge. Something about it felt really fitting for Machinist. More so than Bard's Powerful Shot. And the reduction to mobility should help encourage SE to be less shy about raising MCH's damage output closer to where it should be.
I think Heat Blast could fulfill that role. They could adjust Hypercharge to temporarily buff the damage of Heat Blast to be on par or higher than Blast Charge so that you still have a high mobile, high damage phase, but outside of that, Heat Blast would serve as a low damage mobility attack. (Or they could create a new attack that Heat Blast replaces during Hypercharge if they want more animation variety.)
I like the idea of the filler being a walk-on-the-go... It would give more of a BLM feel to MCH, in that you needed more or less to plan your movement ahead. That probably would be a nice addition to make a job's gameplay more distinct in PVE.
Other ideas that can be pulled from PVP's MCH:
- Bishop Autoturret as an AoE battery spender
- Analysis could be an upgrade to Reassemble, as in giving unique effects to the tools
Analysis is a cool skill too, I only hope that the pvp jobs are a training ground for future concepts to gauge peoples opinions.
honestly i think it be cool if the Sniper was MCH big burst phase instead of heat blast
I would love to see the sniper work like communio, have it be a cast of our character aiming down the sight with a gloriously monstrous potency(like communio). That would feel like a finisher more than queen does.
I swear this argument goes in circles constantly because no one knows how MCH should be improved. Someone say they should make it more mechanical and powerful as a BLM for complexity and DPS but then someone argue that is a horrible path for reasons, then someone say make it BLM strong and keep all mobility but add DPS punish mechanic for messing up or low DPS punishment when messing up then someone argue it is a horrible path for reasons, then someone say keep it as it is but buff DPS to the point of BLM and then someone argue it is a horrible path for reasons, and etc.
Only agreement we all have is that MCH just need a rework to do BLM level of DPS because Physical Range DPS just need high DPS now regardless of keeping Mobility or not because Casters hardly have to deal with mobility issues now if the player is good with a job like BLM and Red Mage to make their lack of mobility almost non-existent.
For me, I personally say just rework and go full Blitz job from Dungeon Fighter online to be done with it until next changes in future expansions....
