Request for Better Dev Communication Regarding Job Balancing and Adjustments

The way it goes is Foxclon says they monitor the forums and feedback, and make a report of what they are seeing and relay it up. That doesn't mean they touch everything but you also have to remember a few months ago YoshiP called out people who were being blatantly rude to the devs in the forums.

He likes his SHb-style of changes of just adjusting numbers and moving on now unless it's a special project (SHb Summoner, EW Dragoon/AST 6.2+). Does this skill need to be more potent, is MP value correct, etc. If anything I'm kind of glad they realized they need to start nerfing things again instead of playing lets bring everyone up. It's better to bring down one value than mess up numbers for 3 more jobs, and playing the rat race.

main issues is draw/play and minor arcana which add unnecessary button bloat.
you don't need 2 button to stack and release, especially for cards that deal identical buff to all.(same card effects also ast issue btw)

Draw/Play being 1 button was a complaint I made back in Shb when I joined the game and picked up AST. Pray tell me WHY do I have ANOTHER ONE (Minor Arcana/Crown Play)?

You should look up AST's opener. FFXIV's crappy coding and the poor servers + netcoding makes double-weaving aggravating.

Draw and Play should have been consolidated. Same with Minor Arcana and Crown Play, but I'd rather they remove Minor Arcana since it adds nothing to the gameplay but RNG trash.

Draw/Play used to be a consolidated action back in Heavensward/Stormblood, then they eventually got divided going into Shadowbringers. The same for Minor Arcana too, although that was a single target ability so you still had to toggle to an ally/foe to heal or attack, whereas you can just blindly mash that key now to heal or attack.

Would definitely like it if they could be combined once more, at the moment the only problem would be seeing how many stacks of [Draw] you have, and in a way not being able to see the [Minor Arcana] re-cast timer - so I do get why they may be split at the moment (or hope, since sometimes class changes feel like russian roulette).

not for healers cause that would mean they have a chance to get better which the devs seems adamant on denying such hope, example liturgy was expected to trigger from allies getting damaged and then we got....that abomination of implementation for a healer skill.

AST's biggest problem is how disconnected their system is.

We have Divination that is just a 2min buff, cards that need to be thrown at the right time, Astrodyne, Minor Arcana.

None of these things correlate to one another.

Cards relating to Divination build up? Nope they deleted that. Aligning seals with Divination was the pay off and even if it's just all dps buffs, at least you felt impactful. Getting that last seal and hitting Divination felt good. Now it's just another button to press off CD.

Cards are the same-ish but somehow they feel worse. The seals only charge Astrodyne and even then it's better that you give the correct card out rather than seal alignment.

Astrodyne is a personal buff.....why? Sure the spell speed and mp regen are very welcomed but at the cost of disconnecting AoE buffing from cards? Half the time Astrodyne feels lacking and often forgotten about.

Minor Arcana used to be what you used to use cards but didn't want to mess with your seals. It had a purpose and now it's back to being an RNG dmg card/heal and neither are usually on the right moment.

As much crap as I gave AST in ShB, it at the very least had a system that was easy to grasp and connected.

You draw cards, pick a dps to use them on, get whatever seals you can via redraw, pop Divination. Set up your next set of seals, throw filler cards into Minor Arcana so they're still useful.

Now it's just a job with too much going on for no payoff.

Has become so busy that it's almost exhausting to play because you need to watch everything and AST has so much potential. It just sucks that the devs don't have a clue on how to do it.

Agreed, been wishing for better clarity since a long time.

We never know where the Dev team is going, what are their intentions.
A lot of your examples, to not say all, are on point with the feeling of Dev team being disconnected from forum feedback.
They mention button bloat but many actions are the same, except one is single target and the other is AoE, see Shoha and Shoha II, repeated for 2 other actions.

I also want to point out that even the Japanese side of the forum thinks the Dev team is only listening to the English side.

If you arent on the JP forums ....then your opinions are close to irrelevant imho.

Just like with ffxi, SE has a history of jp feedback > everyone else.

We try, and we should!! We sputter about here on the NA forums but ultimately they react to please JP.
