A Plea to those that like to be obscene in Castrum

Your kids, up to you how you do things. But this isn't a G rated game, so you can't expect the world to babysit them. Just do what the other guy said about said it's a pencil brand or something, if they are that little they don't know those words, then they will believe you.

Another suggestion is since you have to queue for Castrum: not going into either Castrum directly or MSQ roulette until such time as the chances of them being around are slim.

Edit to add: yes, this doesn't help parents who are unaware of the markers and the tendency for the immaturity in the duty.

At the same time, this game isn't exactly G rated as AlyaNimfa stated and ESRB typically leaves online interactions as unrated, meaning that you could have anything from G rated to X rated conversations pop up. Granted most games will attempt to keep chats rated no harsher than their game's ESRB rating for PR purposes via rules. That doesn't mean that you don't have immature players skirting censures or bringing up mature topics in chat anyway just to rile people up or out of sheer boredom/immaturity.

Just tell em! They gotta learn eventually and honestly, you wanna do it yourself before they discover national geography!

Anyway here are your solutions.

1. For DIC: "It's 'CID' backwards, he's a character in the game. The letters move to face you so it looks like that when you're on the other side." For the most part, this also will be the truth. I like to put CID down, but obviously if you go to the other side it'll look different.

2. For DICBA4: "You can put letters and numbers on the ground to mark your place. Someone just put a bunch of them up for fun." Not a lie, either, just not telling the whole truth.

Won't even have to say what it's supposed to be. Dee-eye-see-bee-ay-four. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You are not just overthinking it, you are being your own worst enemy for trying to censor something from your kids, that doesn't need censoring.

If you are asked, just say the boring truth of it... "It's place markers for CID, They are back to front where I stand, see? Cid's that old guy with three eyes. People put them there to tell him to stand." You can show them markers in the game, if you want.

And, that is the plain, boring, truth of it.

And if they laugh and snicker "that looks like dick too!" (because they 100% learnt that word from their peers in Kindy) you laugh it off and whisper "Just make sure you don't say that word when Mom or Gran is in earshot" wink, and make light of it.

But if you stammer, clutch your pearls, and turn red with shame, your rugrats will see this - they know you very well after all - and are going to wonder "why is Dad turning crimson faced!? It must be a secret!! We want to know!!".

Explain things in a plain and simple, truthful boring manner and it's forgotten about. Always.

I'm not a fan of the whole dic-bag thing but this is making a mountain range out of a tardigrade...

You need to keep your children in an underground bunker that has security cameras to make sure they can't learn a single bad word in their life!!

The player is you, not your children. Everybody in-game interacts with you, not the other person in near your monitor. It's nobody's business nor responsibilities with those in your monitor's vicinity. It's your children, the responsibilities falls on your hands, not the other players.

If you really think those words are so dangerous as to 'corrupt' their thought then maybe avoid playing such game or exposing them to such contents in future?

Also gotta agree hard with Cubsbane there... it's literally D - One - C - B - A - Four; people do it for fun. You're not even lying to your children that way, you're correcting them, even!

I wish I had time to join Castrum when my kids are around.. I'm too busy looking after them.
