You should be thankful Yoshi P even allowed you play this work of art for a measly $65, it's easily worth 10 times that.

FFXIV likely only sees a portion of its profits reinvested into the game. The majority of it likely goes elsewhere, and helping to fund or sustain projects that ultimately fail is part of that. It's pretty plainly apparent that there are failures in upper management that have lead to this debacle either way.
