I haven't really put tons of thought into my character, she's just a more exaggerated / extreme version of myself irl.
However, I love reading and seeing the amount of thought y'all put into y'alls characters. So many people in this community are so creative :)

Depends on which character you want to hear about and whether it's WoL or RP character.

Yes. I’m the warrior of light.

SPOILERS BELOW
I have had three avatars throughout my tenure playing this game. Each time I changed, the mantle of Warrior of Light was bequeathed from father to son.
Aonns - My original avatar that I made in ARR. A miqote Thaumaturge that started off as a simple adventurer but became jaded and hardened after the betrayal of the Crystal Braves. He sought only carnage and revenge for Haurchefant, the only friend he thought he had. His ultimate goal was to destroy Ishgard entirely, but the end of the Dragonsong War softened his heart. He knew he would only ever be used for war, so he acquired the help of the Redbills to find a lone Sky Island just big enough for him to live on and sequesters himself from the rest of the world.
Wick - My second Avatar. An Elezen crafter and gatherer. After his father disappeared, he took up the mantle. However, he preferred to build and make people stronger rather than terring them down in battle. He was my avatar from Stormblood to Endwalker. He retired from being WoL and now works at the Last Dregs, working to rebuild the lost civilizations.
Locke - My current avatar. A Viera Black Mage who dresses like a clown. He traveled to the New World to escape the shadow of his father and grandfather. He doesn't know who he wants to be yet, but he meets his unknown future with a smile.

Oh! Yeah sure:
Ninishu Lalafell born to pretty average parents in a settlement near to Gridania. Her father's a Plainsfolk crafter of several trades, but she takes after her Dunesfolk mother and was thus named as such. Her childhood was quite average and happy. Following her heritage, she decided to set out to Ul'dah as she came of age, with nothing but a old wand and her wits.
She has a knack for the arcane, becoming both skilled in back and white magic, but became horrified by the roots of both schools after journeying through both Amdapor and Mhach and meeting the Tonberries. She grew somewhat traumatized by just how warped and destructive the mages from every side of War of the Magi became, and sumpathized with why the elementals of her birthplace chose to wipe it clean. This is why she switched to the new school of combat as a Machinist, as well.
Ninishu takes great pride in pioneering a new form of combat that doesn't heavily drain from the environment that most anyone can learn. She's learned to use a gunblade and has taken up the mamtle of a Scholar, as using her own aether via a familiar doesn't break her internal code to take the bare minimum aether She now takes ever opportunity to learn more about the War of the Magi and keeps her old White and Black mage stones close.
In essence, Ninishu is kind of a gadgeteer/artificer. She's very steampunk in style and much of her story was influenced by my own fascination with the content surrounding the War of the Magi and the calamity of water the elementals started. I was initially a SCH main in the early era of the game, but chaged it up later when I found MCH super fun and was thrilled to bits to see we got the gunblade job we'd been requesting in ShB. I started forming a story for my WoL around then that's stuck. And I genuinely just really like the trope of being the guy fighting a wizard with a glock. "I cast 50 caliber!"

Why should I make a story? That's why we're paying Square-Enix.
