The details about the story. ARR MSQ is not the same as HW MSQ. Just saying they both have MSQ is meaningless.

To be fair, the first four points in a way are just different versions of 2-5.0, and with some exceptions (the details of where we are actually going) could be applied to almost every single expansion. The features, well, the island sanctuary is cool and Ishgard housing is cool but we've known about it for a while now. There hasnt been a single 'WOW' moment. Comparing this to Shadowlands, there was a massive reveal at the trailer (which wasnt really the case in this one, we know we walking on the moon and Zenos has sadly not died yet) and to Shadowbringers, well there was the viera and the collective hopefullness of the male gender for the race and all the especulation surrounding it, plus the trailer seemed a lot more exciting and while sage seemse cool, GNB is likely a much more popular job design wise and was as far as I recall a bit more hyped. Overall, this announcement isnt 'bad', its just lackluster and empty. Its a pretty surface but without much under it
Yeah, Shadowlands has that shock value, I guess, but doing an afterlife expansion might be over the top. Then again, people still complained about Sylvanas defeating Bolvar, so it kind of tempers that reveal.
As for Shadowbringers, we learned we'll go to another shard to prevent a calamity, great. Meanwhile, for Endwalker, we learned that we will finish the story of Hydaelyn and Zodiarc in .0, not even waiting to stretch it to .3 and we get to see what's next for .1. That's more interesting to me.
Either way, whichever reveal you find more interesting, to say it's more of the same is still too reductive. More of the same would just them saying we'll have new MSQ without even a hint of what it will be. Instead, we get the general structure of the MSQ and hints about the raid and alliance raid and other stuff. That's not mere "more of the same."
I didnt like the Shadowlands setting at all, its incredibly absurd and makes no sense we are killing immortal, eternal dead people with not even so much as an explanation to what happens when they die there, its absolutely horrible lore wise, but I admit I was pretty hyped about the trailer. We really didnt get anythign epic in the trailer. They couldve shown Estinien or just smth, I just dont really feel like its much. Its tbh giving me Stormblood 2 vibes, but its WAY too early to make assumptions
That's not "being fair".
Of course every expansion trailer has "a version" of the same things. So does the game as a whole. That doesn't change the fact that yesterday I had no idea what the new expansion was called or where we were going or what jobs might be introduced, and now I have seen some of those things. Those are the big things of the game to me.
If it's lacking noise and excitement from the fandom then I think it's because people collectively had better guesses of what might be coming and where we might be due to go. Last time had the whole "wait what we're going where?" surprise element of the First, and here it's more confirming people's guesses and a lot of ground has already been covered at the speculative stage. That doesn't mean it's not good and exciting to see those things confirmed, just less ramifications to discuss.
The farm sound dope. Dunno how we get time for farming when the world is burning down around us.
The removal of belts is also refreshing to hear, though the lack of any news of a glamour log is concerning when it comes to our inventory issues...
