Theres quite the difference between being done with the new content in under a month and being so buried by content and tasks you don't feel like you can step away.

Honestly you could play the beginning of each expac only and be decently geared for next one with just poetics. You aren't required to grind to play most content ever, some content is a grind, but none of this is mandatory. Also he never said "supposed to" despite what some people say to defend or attack the devs with
Nah, they don't.
They probably realise that quality beats quantity any time, and I personally feel the lineup this time around has been much better, especially as far as dungeons and trials are concerned. Arguing around 7 floors to 5 floors on maps is just semantic, it's of no consequence whether they're 5, 7, 9, or even 11, barring the amount of time you spend and the small aesthetic difference. Did we forget about the pandemic as regarding the skipping of an event, something which is completely reasonable by any stretch!
What this post neglects to highlight is the other content that we've had since the expansion, alongside the plethora of good QoL updates we've had this expansion.
Maybe it will be a big announcement, maybe it won't. But to imply they've done near to nothing is completely disingenuous.
I won't deny though the game is host to many issues, some of even highlighted in your post, like Viera/Hrothgar, and the primal weapons, as well as the lack of updates for squadrons, and Grand Company, they could do with Spicing up their gearing, actually making Scrip accessories worth a damn.
I wish I was buried in content that would make me feel like I can't step away, but in a good way. Great content, etc. That would be awesome. I like to have one main game. FFXIV is my main game, but I have to take breaks more often than I'd want. I do get burnout, won't deny that, but a lot of the times I'm taking breaks because.. I'm bored.
There is not enough content in this game to make it your "main game". You should be playing other things or doing other things as well with your time.
Not really a biproduct of desiring choice (busy), but I've been playing the game more in waves now, where there will be a lot of content in front of me and then basically falling behind quickly there after. Honestly is a really nice way to play the game, I've experienced so far.
Hardly any grind, most of the content lets me do it at my own pace (or even literally on my own). I would actually like to see SE enhance this experience / concept if and where they can (with context of not damaging those who are at the current and the ability of that current content to maintain their attention).
Certainly not for everyone but it's actually be a fine way to enjoy the game.
I just wish the long-term content came out at the beginning of a patch, rather than the end of it. Why is Bozja waiting until 5.45?
