This was a direct quote in the lead-up to Shadowbringers about how they were changing SCH. It's sitting here implying that SCH at the time weren't healing, even though SCH were through oGCD skills all the time. I stand by what I said about them not being aware of how we play the jobs, because this sure didn't sit well with me as an outlook on healers.

Hell you need only look at the bulk of the healer changes since ARR to tell that there's likely no one on the balance team with any real pull that actually mains the jobs. Adding a hybrid healer like AST back in HW is a mistake they're still paying for on the balance front. And while the job isn't bad, it's actually really come into it's own, I can guarantee it was suggested by someone who had no idea just how precarious healer balance can be in games like this. At best I can suggest that maybe someone on the balance team might main and/or secondary job WHM because of the near perfect buffs they got with SHB. However one need only look at what happened with SCH and AST (it's in a good spot now but MAN was it the red headed step child at expansion launch... just like 4.0 SCH) this time around - especially SCH to see that that's about as far as it goes. SE really, honestly, needs to hire some of the best healers from each role and bring them in for consultations. Because most of the healer issues have been addressed and constructively given potential solutions for within the community from people who actually know how to play the classes. SE just never, sadly, listens.

Piety is another great example. They give us so much of it in our sets, and yet even just last night I was browsing the BiS for SCH and the speed-run BiS for Piety caps out at 340 Piety. Even just in experimenting last night I got myself down to 600+ Piety and had no problems healing through a messy Copied Factory as SCH. Piety is an absolute joke right now for the class and a lot of it comes down to SE's fundamental misunderstanding of how it plays and them throwing oGCD heals at us to fix non-existent problems.

As for MP I don't see it going away. Unlike the TP change there's really no benefit currently to getting rid of it.

On the thread- I doubt it. MP is an important identity to the FF series, just by that alone I think it would never be removed. That they made things more consistent via costs / maximum I think is as far as they were willing to go.

As for the whole healer thing I think they got a lot of feedback / saw a lot of players wanted healers to focus on healing and so they did that (by reducing damage parts and adding more healing spells), and at the same time also made them easier to balance by making healing a bit closer together. Unfortunately it just made many skilled and overgeared healers sit on fewer buttons and still damage lol. If they wanted healers ot have to heal more then the scaling of stuff needs some real tweaks. As for the other part homogenization makes easier balance but can take some flare away. . . definitely one of those important yet scary 'not too much please' tools.

Not arguing that SE didn't make a bunch of healers feel bummed for various reasons but at least to me it seems apparent what they were attempting to do was a mix of general requests I've seen a lot and some of their own simplifications for smoother / easier balance. Unfortunately didn't work out as well as one would hope, and no healer job of course made the salt sting more (appears like a misstep by some and no olive branch at the same time, unlike if they had added healer mounts or a healer job which would have been more like "aww shucks, buuuut at least I got X"). I imagine there will be some conceptual tweaks for the next expansion, and perhaps a new healer job.

Nah, TP made melee AoE very prohibitive, as it drained your TP like nothing. If you had 2 melee in your dungeon run and they weren't geared like heck and knew their oGCDs, it was useless to do large pulls. Even BRD and MCH had trouble keeping up, even WITH Tactician. TP also made Skill Speed worse than useless, as more SkSpeed would just make your TP run out faster (that was the meme in HW, throw an arrow on the MNK and watch them cry because their TP goes down the drain).

Now SkSpeed is at a somewhat-healthy place (SOMEWHAT), as you only need to worry about it clipping your oGCDs. MP is a different beast, as it makes caster gameplay a lot more punishing. Honestly, I wish physical roles had Mana Shift or Healers/Casters got Osmose. My MP goes down the drain raising 6 people in CLL...

Ya but that was also true of MP to a lesser extent but they lowered MP cost. MP is only more punishing for rezing or getting rezzed besides black Mage. It is still bad to large pulls with bad dps, its just they can't run out of TP and casters could run of MP if they refuse to use lucid dreaming (but thats not really an issue in most cases).

Funny you mention this, BRD songs used to cost MP, and in 1.23 MNK's Fist of [Element] used to drain MP every attack while giving bonus damage or defense.

I feel TP should be restored.

The more TP you gain from using weapon skills or using auto attacks, this builds your charges.

Or something more engaging. Combat has become more simple with its removal. I would like to see more customization and depth added, not more things taken.

Why would they ever get rid of MP?

Square Enix should also remove the HP bar for the entire ARR & HW content as well, since the normal version of every dungeon and trial in those expansions is currently so easy, that youre unable to die unless you go afk midbattle.
