Hmm thats pretty boring if you ask me, was hoping for something a bit more interactive than just standard crafting.
FF11 couldn't handle more than 40 people on screen either and that had large scale campaign fights.

ff11 handled 64man dynamisis just fine. also campaign battles in ffxi were open world too. only thing i really laged on and i was on a ps2 was campaign battles after one patch when they were all mainly done in the 3 cities but after that it stoped again. if they talking about having 40people events being pushed till 2.0 then i think it is safe to say that hamlets can't be open large scale events. but we do have strongholds and they are open world. i bet they will try to make it like caravans and separate who can do them and where so the numbers are watered down.
either way these are all just thoughts in head, i'm still looking forward to seeing it in action. i'm probably wrong either way lol. here's to good times hopefully in hamlets though, god knows i only did caravans twice and said screw this crap. and i always hated behest since day one. ( i didn't even really do the city besiege in ffxi, even though it was popular it was more for the lazy who took the free exp as good exp and i was always out doing things with better progression, still fun though ..to a point, guess rewards are another thing to see)
I'm not saying you couldn't do 64 man content, FF11's graphics engine couldn't display more than 40 people/NPC's on screen at once.
I'm not sure if there was a registry hack to get around it or not though.
My point was though that you can still have large scale content with these limiting factors, its not ideal of course.
If Hamlet defence is glorified chocobo escort then they missed a golden opportunity once again.
