Can we go back to original FFXIV for raids again

Alexander and Omega as well, being two key elements of the time travel plot (and the Twinning). Also got acknowledged in Tales From the Shadows.

The Warring Triad is relevant for extra background information, and it seems like it should be only a matter of time until we have to revisit it.

Eden was originally an entity you summoned in FFVIII. That said very little about Eden itself was revealed in that game so most of what we know about it from FFXIV was written specifically for the raid content.

Have played Nier Automata, and didn't really find it extraordinary.

Can confirm this in the raid 24, especially the 2nd tier (what the hell is that ?).
Nearly no answers at all, during the 2nd tier and a complete turn over compared to the 1st tier.
The story is really bad and so far from the quality Matsuno gave us for Ivalice.

Same for boss. Completely easy. They should have put the 2nd boss as adds, and then adding the Castafiore as final boss.
It would have make sense for the Androids controled and then for the after when the village music and aesthetic is coming from the Amusement Park.

I just don't even know how we can end this in 5.5.
Or maybe we will have a big solo part in 5.4 ?

I personally don't care what raid it is. It's all fun. Story or not. You talk about it ruining your "Immersion". Well, common sense dictates that FFXIV is a fan-based MMO composed of various other FF titles and cross-overs. Examples? Limit Breaks, Materia, Gold Saucer, Magitek, Ruby Weapon, etc. There are various things throughout FFXIV from other titles. The FFXIV story in itself is already great. We don't need raids to further this. Would it be nice? Yes, but not needed.

Nier and Ivalice are probably my 2 favourite 24 mans. I really enjoyed them. I see 24 mans more as side content, so as long as the MSQ sticks to the theme I'm fine with them doing as they like with 24 mans as long as it's enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong, the Crystal Tower raids does this right. Even Alexander tied much better into the world despite not being as relevant as the coils were. All these places forever change XIV and are tieed deeply into the lore.

However.. this trend starting with Ivalice is ruining the immersion for me. As much as I love Nier Automata I want to go to NEW places that expand the story better. At least Eden is heavily tied into the mysteries of the flood of light. Although I Alice has helped expand Garlemald war and the espers a bit, I just hope we get a mysterious new place next time.

Swear to god if they do not tie Garlemand deeply into FF7 I am going to be quite angry if they just rip off some Japanese anime show about robots and not their most successful game ever. (Bad guy at the end of 5.3) needs to start feeding off the LIFESTREAM ASAP! Nier would be more fun I am sure if I actually played those games.

The western audience is not in tune to some of these Japanese central games. Yokai Watch honestly never heard of it but might check it out now.

I disagree about Return to Ivalice being a poor crossover, since the game itself is a love letter to the Ivalice games in the first place and Matsuno integrated FFXIV's world very well. He also expanded Garlemald's lore in a way that made it more interesting and sympathetic. It's not disconnected from the game world nor did it come out of nowhere - Dalmasca was referenced as an in-game location as far back as ARR.

But even Alexander and Omega aren't particularly necessary to any new player's understanding of the storyline or their relevant expansion's themes; they just amount "Cid did Cid things based on some stuff he saw (3 things, up from 1)" given that Crystal Tower is already a sufficient excuse.

Immersion can be kept or broken regardless of the source of the material. But, the less of the necessary elements that source shares with the existing XIV world, or the less cohesive they are with it, the more work it will typically take to make it a satisfying addition to the game. As the amount of work seems not to have increased to incorporate this NieR content, I can only guess that's why it felt so much more janky than previous raid storylines.

This, Ivalice lore and XII/Tactics references are so ingrained into XIV lore that they just expanded more on the Source and with Garlemald. Especially now that the relic weapon seems to be also borrowing heavly from that, it's going to be interesting to see what we learn.
