Lobby Server Error

Datacenter overload from all the people staying at home? /shrug

I was getting it earlier and decided to come back later and try again. I'm still getting the 5006 error

About 12 tries later it let me sign in.

If it was happening during off-peak times, maybe. However, this is the time in the US when most people would already be home playing even if it wasn't for the restrictions. Many 2nd shift workers are likely home as well, so I won't throw out the possibility, but it just doesn't seem to be the likely case. A lot of people (especially older adults) spend newly acquired free time in productivity because they are so used to it, so people staying home doesn't necessarily mean they feel like they have more time to play FFXIV.

I got in after 3 tries, then went to change characters and got another lobby error. I'm going on 10 tried now. If this damn error didnt force me to desktop and to reenter my information I'd be less salty. Honestly this is just frustrating.

I've only become aware of this for about 5 minutes now but it took me 3 tries, almost failing that time too. The spinning wheel was longer than average. Friends/static members are taking 5+ tries.

Aether right now, The lobby server connection has encountered an error. 6001 + 5006

It seems all NA data centers are having the problem..

I've been having the lobby server error since this morning. It's almost the next day and still no luck getting on. Cannot get past the main menu of the ShB logo. Even tried the data center menu trick (where you select your data center first a second time). No change. I play on PC. Friend plays on PS4 and also can't get on. We're on Aether.
