WILL FANFEST BE CANCEL??

Expect the next 6 months in the USA to be a little dodgy. Experts don't seem to think it will take any longer than that. With that said, given how the USA currently isn't doing much about coronavirus it may take a bit less/more time depending on how you look at it (everyone gets infected super fast and the curve flattens, or it takes longer for the country to fight it off and flatten the curve). I would still assume that the date stands.

Maybe delayed , just because of the nature of viruses, and people..the more time passes the more it spread area gets affected. Until they have a vaccine.

If society is still calling off events and such in half a year we'll have got bigger things to worry about.

So, I'm not sure if San Diego is doing the same as we are, but here in San Francisco the mayor has banned any event that consists of more than 100 people to limit the spread of the virus. So.... if things don't improve, or if there's a relapse in the fall as some are anticipating, it's possible that fanfest NA will be canceled because the state won't allow that kind of convergence of so many people into one of its major cities.

We will just have to wait and see.

It's 8 months away.
No, it won't be cancelled. The main risk of this virus spreading will have passed by then.
If not, then we'll all have far more important things to worry about.

I wonder if the virus could have effect on game development?

Who knows. Tennocon (for Warframe) canceled theirs and it is in June I think.

The current pandemic is worth the caution. But yes some people take it overboard as is demonstrated by the current (empty) state of supermarkets.

If SE policy again says YoshiP and company shouldn't leave Japan again like could not for PAX East then it obviously won't happen, remember they cancelled that visit. I bet they have around June to make the decision to go/no go, since this kind of stuff takes months to coordinate along with the ticket sales.

I had a feeling that the NA would be cancelled when I started this post. Not really shock when Yoshi P announce it. 1st of 2021 is a possibility but a digital conference wouldn't be too bad either.
