Was there a poll vote for people to tell SE to take away a dungeon (we got plenty of those feel free to run them) and add fishing instead?

Either way yes most people are enjoying it and maybe they'll keep updating it and adding new features to it. Enjoy your bitterness and run a dungeon~

I did it a few times last night, quite enjoyed it to be honest. Seems good XP for leveling FSH.

It'd be nice if the fish get chucked into a bucket so you can just take out what you want at the end.

It's a real shame too because gatherers, in general, could use a lot more love in this game. They're generally considered less valuable because there's no risk, but instead just grind, timers, and some RNG. But you don't lose mats for failing to gather something.

However, if they could add an entirely new mechanic or something for various rare mats, it would greatly spice things up. However, people would still complain about it, but meh...'tis just my opinion.

I got the mount two days ago and I needed 3 rainbows, GP potions and a lot of luck as well as an 80% bonus at the end to get it. I'll still go ocean fishing, as I enjoy it very much right now, but I still think having a mount locked behind so much RNG is pretty bad. Especially since it's not only RNG this time, but also some kind of timelimited content where you have to be there every two hours to even participate. Having something else planned? Well forget it, you have to be ready in two hours to take the ship. (well considering the trip takes almost 30 minutes it could be one and a half hour too, if you took the ship before) I think the main idea behind this content is a nice one, and it seems to be good for leveling too. But I definitely hope that there will be some changes in the future. :/ Otherwise this content will die down so fast it won't be funny...

Fully agree with you OP and nice to finally have a few more threads about it.

I had hoped that if they do something like that, that it would be different from current fishing but in the end its just fishing on a boat with much more stress and a lot of gates..When I watched the trailer I really thought that we get more to it. Maybe some random events that spawn monsters and that we have to defeat by using certain ship weapons. Or really bad weather where we have to try and stay on the ship. Doing these objectives could then award you with points which you then can use to exchange for rewards. Reduce the timer or make each voyage longer. Not sure why we have 60 minutes when you dont even need 30 minutes.

Gating things being group effort and luck is just horrible. Any kind of fun was sucked out of me when I realized that I could do this every time and could do my best but because of others or bad luck I might never even get the reward..also its quite stressful because you might bring the rest of the group down if you need to take a break..There is no time to talk, there is no time to take in the view. Honestly even big fish never stressed me out that much.

And since there is nothing more behind it (and the content itself is also just simply fishing) this will probably die faster than necessary.

Why could we not catch the pet? Or get certain currency for a certain amount of points which we then can turn in? That would at least reduce the RNG a bit. How about putting the mount behind catching each fish at least once?

Or try out some new fishing mechanics? I do love fishing in other games more because you have mini games there. Maybe something like that would have been nice to try out.

In the end this is just another timed fishing spot but instead of just your own RNG you need to hope that the rest of the group is lucky too and willing to work for it. Its no surprise that people are already leaving the content..if you are after the mount and you did not get a second rainbow you are out of luck.

Like most of the content in this game. Still remember "WHOLE NEW ENDGAME FISHING AREA" guy in the lost dungeon thread, heh, classical. In the end its another fun minigame that will die and become a little niche thing after some updates and die again.
And yeah, seems like SE just dont have money to do actual PVE content nor improving 4 man content, so instead we get more of this mindless fun mini-games and more casual stuff like cards games and minion farms. Seems like Yoshi-P cant handle 2 big projects at the same time with limited budget, another great choice from Square Enix headquarters.

Multiple layers of RNG, time gates and feels like a waste of time. Sounds like fishing to me. Like catching big fish in ARR, where you got 15 mins to catch, needed a mooch and the planets to align for it to be the right weather at the right time window and sometimes they wouldn't even bite. They just made it more annoying and instanced it.

Already a fan of how nothing is guranteed on FSH so been enjoying Ocean Fishing a lot. If I were to improve it would be if there'd be more variation in the desynth of the fish or if you go with snagging you could drag up warerlogged chests the miqo'te muttering about valuables in the haul could open, Deep Dungeon style, with random loot with a massive table for crafting mats, fireworks, old gear and other misc.

It remains on of the best things in the game: The break and calm after narrowly escaping death in PotD then stand in Quarrymill talking about what we got in hoardes (and please not like Eureka where you are left with hundredes after a session. Just a few to make it feel more special.) Think that would be nice in Ocean Fishing with the downtime inbetween.

I spent a lot of time the last three days ocean fishing, in fact yesterday from the time I woke up to the time I went to bed I did not miss a single chance. And yet, I have only seen three rainbows one time. It was early on so I didn't know what to do for the mount yet. I wouldn't hate this content so much if it was skill based. I want the raiding mounts but I don't get angry about not getting them because I don't have a raid group but I know if I really really wanted to I could form one and go after any of them and the only thing holding me back would be the time it would take to improve my skills. This is not like that. This is pure rng. Fishing intuition windows pop up so infrequently that it's almost not worth pursuing them. In several rainbows I have not gotten any !!! casts even using plump worm. According to some people there are weather conditions. Can't farm for that weather because the boat is restricted to every two hours. Can't leave the instance because I feel like I would be doing a dis service to those staying trying to enjoy their first trip. Can't do anything with the fish I catch really. Have caught so many spectrals and only actually triggered rainbow one time. They need to up the chances for rainbow to drop and also create something other than fish prints to do with the fish. Because as is, as soon as I get the mount this content is pretty much dead for me. I would like the sea dragoon title but i honestly don't see how even a group can get that since the bait has such a wide range of fish it can catch no matter which you use.

There's a reason the boat is level 1 content. Fisher is the least played job in the game, and many people who might want to start doing it are not too keen on the process of getting the job leveled up, myself included.

However in just a couple trips last night I went up a substantial number of levels and now can see where trying to do more fishing and getting the end game gear might be viable (I already level miner and botanist, just don't do fishing) Between this and Ishgard being made available for lower level gatherers, it seems the entire point is to help jump start the leveling process more so than to provide hard, end-game content to established fishers.
