You would think they could but I'm not so sure. I only say that because when they originally enacted the 1 personal house 1 fc house rule per world it meant that anyone with two characters on that world in different fcs, one with a house and one without, the fc without the house couldn't purchase a house. So I'm not sure how their programming is set up and if they can do checks or if it's an all or nothing situation. Regardless it sucks and why I was really really hoping that the Ishgard Restoration was going to open up real instanced housing, but it doesn't look like it. :(

For the couple on Mateus yes this was the case. They bought all those when Mateus was a very small server. There were plots open for years if I remember correctly when they did that. Even after they did it there were tons of plots open. It's when server transfers became a thing and a lot of Balmung players moved to Mateus so they could have housing that it got kinda ugly.

That used to be the case when they first put account restrictions in place. If you were in an FC with a house on that realm, any other FCs you were in on other characters on that realm (within the same FFXIV service account), were banned from being able to obtain a house! And this wasn't limited to if you were leader or not, if you were as much as a member of 2 different FCs across 2 different characters (even if you were the lowest rank), it banned the second FC from being able to buy a house.

I didn't even know about the 1 FC house rule. I thought the limitation is just for personal housing. I would think an FC house would be exempt due to affecting other people in the FC. But if they already have a rule that the leader cannot buy an FC house if they already have another character that owns an FC house, then it should be possible to check against the FC leader rank.

Wait, actually, you don't have to be the leader to buy an FC house, so how does the limitation even work? Purchasing an FC house is a permission that can be given to an FC rank as that's how my FC bought a house when Shirogane first became available. Did they change that?

Right that's why they took that restriction away from FC housing. And yes that is true you don't have to be a leader to buy the FC house. But the leader of the FC is the defacto owner because they own the FC. But yea that's why they took away that 1 FC house restriction because it was messing up homeless FCs from ever being allowed to purchase a house. Because even if one member had another character on that world in another FC that already owned a house, then that homeless FC was just not going to get a house ever.

Edit - and it was never just the FC leader being able to purchase a house, I know many FCs just have it set up that way with their ranks and access. Sorry if I confused anything there.

well I'm not saying ban them from having a house realm wise because thats a extreme form of it because houses are not linked to the realm they are linked on the worlds themself even crossworld cant get it through that method (are so ive been told) So the best solution is add a limit by world on the account so you could have other fc houses on the realm just not on the same world.

Right, so in that case, the check is not on the purchase, but on the ownership. So if there is a change in ownership, there should be a check to make sure no rule is broken. I think they can do it.

I see what you are saying. Yes they are checking that for purchase of actual land, but yea not for an FC. What if a leader is absent too long though and leadership is moved on to the next person and that person already owns another fc house? Do they just move it to the next person on the list then like the other poster said? I mean yes that would make sense, but I don't know how that would work with SE's programming. Yea I bet they could check that, but would it cause an issue to just move it on to the next person? I'm not a programmer so I don't know how all that works. But you would think they could do something.

Well, they just have a set of rules to check who is qualified to take ownership. They don't have to move it around. Check who are eligible and then choose among those, whether by online date or rank.
