Hmm. I guess there is the possibility that at least one of the Scions gets stranded in the First. Thanks, G'raha. /sarcasm
I keep thinking about the Ardbert lookalike. If he were Elidibus he would be stupid as hell for using the same trick twice. Also, the Ardbert we see is in his Warrior of Darkness mode, armor dyed black and all, so he is not likely a Warrior of Light as Elidibus threatened. It intrigues me that he is labeled as "Wayward Warrior"... as if someone forsaken or who lost his way, maybe? Gah. I can see my Hades-soul-fragment theory happening but also it might be merely me being delusional. This is frustrating. I want to know. >/
A lot of thoughts right now, but Post-MSQ-Cutscene:
A friend of mine had the best theory concerning the mysterious new figure in Garlemald. Colour scheme is red and white, and when that certain grin came... my friend just threw out 'Asahi'. And I mean, concerning how they talk about them looking for a new master...
My thoughts on the MSQ's:
A slow burn, though it did a fair job at exploring the aftermath of Vauthry's defeat. It developed a bunch of the characters we met there further, too, which is a bonus. I enjoyed the dungeon, it wasn't at all what I expected but I loved the aesthetics. The Nou Mu is quirky but interesting. That there's a glimmer of hope for Halric and his brethren intrigues me, though I'm a little wary that Tempering is being proposed as being something that can be reversed. Do we really need to see Primals rendered less dangerous? I'd be fine with it if it carved the way for the Ascians being freed of Zodiark's grasp but if it's an excuse to let everything work out for the protagonists then I'll be disappointed.
The Garlemald scenes were interesting. Emperor Varis, as I suspected, was very much the glue holding Garlemald together. His hands were tied not only by the Ascians but the various different factions within Garlemald. It's exactly why Zenos was never suitable for the throne, as Varis proclaimed. It's also clear now that he's definitely dead - so barring him being brought back through shenanigans I'm hoping we'll see him again through flashbacks. Things are slowly moving into place to justify a Garlemald focused expansion at any rate.
As for the two figures at the end, I'm inclined to think the white-robed figure is a wayward servant of Elidibus, potentially one scorned by his schemes whereas 'Ardbert' is Elidibus. It could go in a completely different direction though.
I suspect 5.2 will introduce us to the players in the civil war.
I haven't had time for the Nier raid yet but for the msq
so I'm taking it pretty much as holy write that Ardbert is completely merged with our soul due to what Luq Beqq said about our soul being denser than the other scions.
I groaned with Alisaie naming that porxie Angelo. Also found it hilarious with her flicking the exarch in the forehead like she did. Hell a lot of it I found funny.
The stinger at the end... I dont think that's the first's Ardbert since he merged with us. (I've taken to calling him Albert). I'm more thinking that he may be one of the many WoL that Elidibus grabbed from the 13th before it became the void and is our soul from there, but that's a theory of mine.
Cant wait to try the Nier raid and the other stuff.
I'm not sure about that.Asahi died from being stabbed to death, so he doesn't have the means to become an Ascian, and also demonstrated no special powers in life. Furthermore, he'd have no reason to hide his identity from Zenos considering how obsessive and worshipful he was of him.
Characters blah blah blah—
Gods, please not Asahi. He got his miserable moment of so-called glory in Yotsuyu's arc and he got offed the way he deserved. Elidibus might be fond of reviving the dead but this is too much. Though I wonder if there might exist a fanatic cult of Hydaelyn worshippers out there. And the white-robed figure could be one. I know Y'shtola was joking when she said that about "our divine judgment" to Alisaie and G'raha, but... what if, somewhere, there is a sect who idolizes the Warrior of Light... maybe summoner of Hydaelyn? Ooh, that would be lit.
And I highly doubt that our soul fragments in the shards happen to be all lookalikes of Ardbert right down to the WAR armor. Either he is Elidibus or a confused fragment of Hades, but certainly not Ardbert and highly unlikely a Warrior of Light.
Also, where the fuck are the Emet clones and G'raha dropping the bomb of Allagan cloning techniques retaining psyche. I am eyeing you, 5.whatever.
