I know nothing about modding besides that there are soo many hd mods for so many different games and yet ffxiv lacks those. Tbh I'm surprised there arent more mods for this game considering the population
Not that the players are supposed to do Square's job but still actually wondering abt that..Just look how many mods there are for Skyrim
They said in an interview that it has nothing to do with PS4, but the 1.0 source code. They claimed changing that code would take more effort and resources than the actuaƶ use.
Rule 1 of MMO Club. An MMORPG is not an RPG. FF14 is an online game and your actions affect others. If you use a cheat to get 1000000 gil-equivalent in Skyrim it affects nothing. In an MMORPG it affects the economy.
If you use a graphics mod in an RPG big deal, you sue it in an MMORPG you can cheat things like enemy distance.
For those reasons anything that changes or reads the client code in memory is forbidden (even parsers, officially, and they just read memory).
Sure improving some basic stuff that is used a lot would be a nice thing but i doubt SE will do that. I think it would better and maybe easier to add some new filters to the game (like higer sharpening, color saturation, color and lightning adjustment and stuff like that), something that improves the overall visual quality and can be adjusted. They could add this in the advanced graphic setting menu.
@Mods
There are mods for FF14 and not just nude mods, there are some pretty mods that improve basic stuff like the quality of the hair, eyebrows or eyes etc.. As long the mods are only client side and do nothing else than making your game prettier and don't give you ingame advantage or you harass players with that (like parserfreaks that bother other ppl with to low dmg messages) you are fine. If you take a look at instagram or other social media you can easily see that there is a pretty big community that uses graphic mods on their game. Like already mentioned in this thread, this game can look amazing with the help of a few mods and ReShade. This game is already one of the best looking MMOs at the market if you know how to use the stuff mentioned before.
When I see how they "remastered" FF8, I would be a bit scared of an HD pack...
