New Mentor requirements

Well, it’s hard to even begin change when people use it to joke a majority of a time in all Novice Networks. However, I do find that the Burger King Crown does need a change as plenty of people have said since I believe that toting around a crown(since the days of HW) is just showing off.

Trade mentor is laughably easy. Any casual crafter can cheese their way to it. Once you have it you can stick a Battle or PvP mentor crown by your name if you wanted.
The PvE changes are a step in the right direction.

I like the suggestion of making the crown a watering can and I'd also remove the mentor roulette mount, tie it to something else and significantly bump up the trade mentor requirements. I know they want to populate mentor roulette and Novice network but the issue is they're aiming for quantity over quality. People who don't really want to help out are hopping in for the other incentives. The main purpose for Mentors should simply be to signal to new players "If you have any questions just ask, I'm here to help".

They are doing kind of a split between battle and trade mentors and without fulfilling the requirements for the battle mentor status / as a trade mentor you will no longer be able to queue into the mentor roulette.

Also,

I believe they have stated before that the "not yet re-certified mentor" status lasts only for 5.1, and they will lose mentor completely if they do not meet the new requirements in the following patch.

I don't think the commendation requirement is very meaningful. Anyone can get any amount of comms given enough time, it's not really a gauge of quality. I worry that it just might serve as a roadblock to newer mentors. Being a mentor isn't required to help other players, but being in the NN makes it much easier to actually find people to help as well as to learn from.

Now i'm home link added to OP and added the stuff about Trade mentors being locked out of Mentor Roulette and re registration period in case people didn't want to read link.

Will say it is odd they are allowing mentors to stay after that re registration period perhaps it is only until 5.2 and then they'll be forcibly booted but no idea if that will be the case given the information.

But old cheesed mentors will still be able to use the NN? And use it as their own little LS?
That's disappointing to say the least.
Also, I like the idea of a new icon, we definitely need something less presumptuous.

You can be the nicest person in the world, do everything absolutely right, give them every advice they could ask for and more; yet, they still don't have to nor are required to, give you a commendation.
