I'm sure others have said it, but I'll happily say it again:
Summoner.
Really, it's a Final Fantasy staple. Albeit almost certainly an advanced role but.. yeah, it would be a travesty if Final Fantasy XIV never sees Summoners in some form.

Corsair - Game needs some more defined support classes and I wanted to play it in XI but never got around to it.
Samurai, ninja, thief, summoner, red mage, beastmaster, bard, dragoon, dark knight (surprised this wasn't mentioned yet) and maybe a tech job like Edgar from FFVI.
BST ... I'm missing you
Beastmaster was my first job ... opps class to lv75.
Jobs wanted aside, i missed the most fun aspect that was in XI, BEING ABLE TO TAKE OFF YOUR WEAPON AND SMASH SOME HEADS REGARDLESS OF JOB I thought being able to change your class by equipping was a novel idea but there's no greater feeling than knocking a mob out with your bare hands! call me stupid and/or call it a lame but i saw it as a fun distraction in XI.
But If i wanted to see a new class on XIV, it would have to be Summoner, although i'm still curious about the Arcanist, and it looks like the Archer and Musketeer classes are just Ranger split up. and i'm really saddened by the Thaumaturge and Conjurer classes, aside from one dealing with Elemental Damage and the other dealing with buffing and debuffing, they are both not that different, especially since both can HEAL and RAISE, the think that made XI nice was the "feeling needed" factor, having something noone else in your party had, being depended on, it makes you work that much harder to ensure victory, but that's just me, heh. ^^
To everyone saying Paladin and Redmage need to be in game they already are. Paladin is created using all the jobs in the game at various levels, Redmage is Thurmaturge Base @50, Mixed with Conj @30 Low level Glad Pugalist Maurader and Lancer
First I would like to see a Dragoon. It doesn't have to replace Lancer, just be a different path you could take. Other than that summoner, thief, and ninja are at the top of my list. To be honest though I don't think there is a FFXI job that someone wouldn't want to see.
Only if they are the same as FFXI jobs are:
Samurai because it was just an amazingly fun job.
Red Mage because it's fun and versatile.
Thief because it was my first 75 job.
Paladin because I like the aspect of tank and magic user in one, but lose the keeping aggro with healing crap.
Blue Mage if learning abilities isn't so tedious.
Dragoon because using Jump is awesome and I loved my wyvern doing emotes.
I would like to see most every job returned in FF14 from FF series. call them by another name (suited for the new world we live in) Paladin = Templar, Thief = Bandit. just few ideas/examples, as long as they give the feeling of being that class style, the name means little imo as long as it fits the world. favorite class would have to be a BLU style. learn skills to use for self. so many possibilities open for the game to expand in.
beastmaster- going around with fellow bsts, and acting like a traveling circus of pain, is a blast. I love the personality of the job, and how they became such a close, unspoken group in XI
Ninjas- we need em, whether it's 1h/2h katanas, or judo style, or pure shurikan/jutsu style, style, doesn't matter as long as they don't change the name, so I can continue to say things like "Ninja roll", "Ninja whaaaat", and "Ninja please"
also, I do miss going total fistacuffs with enemies after a long day at work, like was previously mentioned. If they can somehow incorporate this aspect of the game, consider my subscription permanent
and @OP, I love the sig quote, lol'ed pretty good
