Suggestion: Add a disable option for Rescue

It happens so rarely that I don't see a big issue with it. The only really bad experience I had with this skill in the years i play this game was a few weeks ago It happened during an expert dungeon and the the first thing the whm did was to press the sprint button and run into a mob group and start spamming holy. I told him/her to let me pull but instead he/she did the same with the second group and this time used rescue to pull me towards the group. I left the group afterwards as I didn't want to deal with the stupidity of said player. The issue here wasn't rescue though but the behaviour of that player.There were a few times someone used rescue on my black mage because they probabaly thought I wouldn't be able to get out of the aoe in time but I didn't mind it that much because their intention didn't seem to be vicious. From my experience it's a non issue.

if it was more of a warp to healer rather than a move to healer i think a lot of the issues would be fixed

This. If it was just a simple warp I don't think the skill would be as hated. Right now it's at the mercy of server ticks and various other lag factors that really only make it viable in a select few situations - such as E3S when my static was learning it, it was a good way to save people from going off the ledge with Tidal Wave or save people with Heavy during Maelstrom. But beyond that it's often more hassle than it's worth in it's current form.

Yes please. Nothing beats being a BLM and using the shield ability to keep up damage and not dropping Enochian/leaving your leylines just to have a healer pull you anyway losing you more GCDs than you would have lost by simply moving. Like wow... It is almost as if they do not know we have a shield...

Someone in my FC used Rescue to pull me into Ancient Flare the other day as a joke. There was also a time during Dun Scaith when I was doing a mechanic with Surecast and someone tried to rescue me even though I was perfectly safe. So I guess I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.

That being said, it'd kind of defeat the point of Rescue.

On topic, I use Rescue for those DPS who like to stand in no man's land outside my aoe heal range.

That sounds nice, but consider the following:

You're in Syrcus Tower. Amon is casting Curtain Call, which is about to go off, and you don't notice. A Healer notices you late and casts Rescue on you to pull you to safety as you do your rotation. A message pops up on your screen "Would you like to be Rescued?"

- No: Why would you want to be Rescued? Nothing bad is happeni- *Curtain Call*

- Yes: Why is this person trying to Rescue m- *Curtain Call*

I can guarantee you that the vast majority of people using Rescue aren't stopping to take into account what job you are or whether or not you're shielding yourself before they hit that Rescue button. All they are seeing is that you're standing in bad, which is something that usually makes healers' jobs harder.

Don't get me wrong though, I do relate to how you feel. It's why I don't feel Rescue should exist as a skill. In a heavily movement/"DDR" based game where one misstep (or lack of step) can mean the difference between living and dying, I feel all players ought to be responsible for their own movement, as well as the consequences when they screw up.

Yes, I sadly know this, which is why I indeed think the skill should be toggleable or not exist at all as I due to this don’t trust PUG healers with this sort of ability.

Just because you feel you don't need it, doesn't mean a 'disable assistance' button should exist, as it would simply lead to people who are much worse players than you ending up standing in AoEs and the only way the healer can get them out of the AoE doesn't work because they felt the need to use that option. And then the healer has to use their mp to raise the person...all in all, such an option does more harm than good. There's also advanced tactics like using rescue to get DPS out of limit break animation lock, which would completely go away...

Instead, if you feel you are being griefed by healers, then you should perhaps use the report feature the game offers instead of making a thread like this. Healers get griefed by tanks and dps all the time, report them, and move on.

Oh no, idiotic players dying to mechanics, what a tragedy, thank yaoi that healers have always had rescue and haven't been forced to deal with the inconvenience of not being able to control a player's movement.

If you want to disable Rescue, add the option of not being able to rez the player who died because he was out of position and you couldn't Rescue them into a safe spot so healer won't need to waste mana on them.
And autokick tanks who don't use CDs at all.
