Am I the only one somewhat pleased by Dancer?

I guess you just missed the fact that people can be genuinely happy for something that you're not.

Disclaimer: I main a physical ranged DPS. I started playing the game as an archer/bard in early ARR, switched to Machinist when it came out, and I've stuck with it in all the years since then, only really starting to 'main' (Play in difficult content) a few other jobs since then. Sure, I wanted a new job in the role I stick to, but I was more than content to wait for one until 6.0. I really feel like all my healer friends should have gotten a new job in their role first, because they've been waiting a lot longer, and I think it'd be better for the game overall. Dancer looks cool, but the feeling that it came at the expense of so many peoples' expectations and happiness going into the expansion makes it a lot harder for me, personally, to enjoy.

You could say that I'm fairly pleased with Dancer being a DPS. I suppose they could have made it a healer, but most of the representation I'm familiar with has them as support/enfeebling; not unlike Bard. I won't say I didn't understand why people were so invested in them being a healer in XIV, but at the same time the fact that some people were so convinced that they had to be a healer made me raise an eyebrow. It's as if making the argument: "SMNs were made to main-heal with /WHM in XI, have healing summons in some games and the Summoners in FFIX could use white magic- SMNs should be healers!" Heck, if anything I think SMN had more healing representation in the series than DNC did.

That and I figured anything made into a healing job for XIV would be stuck with like 80% of their armor being shared with SCH, WHM and AST and therefore stuck with robes. And I personally would associate DNC with something wearing gear at least mostly exposing their legs and less movement-inhibiting than the sort of robes mages get stuck with.

That and the twin Chakrams look cool and I bet are a good weapon for creativity (war fans, shurikens?). I wasn't really initially interested in DNC (especially if it ended up as healer- already play AST and WHM), but now I might try it out.

I came into this thread to express that I was excited to throw bladed frisbees at people while dancing like a lunatic, but I didn't expect to get this extra dose of tear-drenched salt while I was at it

In a way, it is justified that the person isn't happy. Healers were told that this expansion would have a new healer and tank. There is a new tank but..doesn't appear to be a healer. So that's waiting two years to be told a lie..unless they're hiding something.

They're 100% allowed to be unhappy. I just think that they're wasting their time coming to a thread about people wanting to express that they are happy about it. Especially when they're on the soapbox of "An undefined amount of people in this thread are only holding snowflake opinions to feel special."

Technically, we were not promised any specific jobs or roles. I don't remember Yoshi ever telling us we'd get a tank and a healer. It's unfortunate that the leaks were inaccurate, but we cannot hold SE responsible for any misinformation the leakers may have spread in violation of their NDA.

Oh well, lesson learned. Let's see if we still remember it 2 years from now.
