What is a "bad player" to you?

For me it's all about effort. A new player I can understand not quite grasping everything yet, but an honest effort is all I ask.

Don't just spam fire 3 and blizzard 3 and call it a day. Learn the basics of your job. AOE when appropriate. If you need help, ask for it. And don't take advice as a personal attack. (Unless someone is being a jerk about it but I generally find people are polite about such things at first.)

It's fine to make mistakes and learn from them. But what makes a REALLY bad player is being bad and being complacent about being bad. People that don't care they're being bad, make no effort to improve. LIke when I started DRKing, I was under the mistaken impression that darkside was something you toggled on to do damage then toggled off to regen mp, while in truth you should be keeping it on at all times and using your abilities to regen mp like your dps combo etc. I was doing something wrong, it was pointed out to me, I corrected myself and learned. I'm still not a great DRK but I got better.

Wasn´t starting this with any bad intentions, thought it might actually help to get rid of some of the performing anxiety.

After the fourth wipe at the same boss because of my stupid mistake I usually bid my good-bye, I do feel bad about it but I´d rather get more information on what I´m doing wrong than run the boss again and again with a silently enduring group.

Communication in this game can be sorely lacking I noticed. Hey, most players don´t do those mistakes on purpose - they just don´t know better at this moment of time. The only bad player to me is a non-talking and probably trolling one.

Oh I know you probably didn't, but almost any time a what's a bad thread is made there's a split in the community that thinks anyone who feels people should listen to advice that's given nicely and have the basics of their job down pat are jerks. That even just that small amount of wanting to better one's self equates to wanting people to be able to preform at UCoB levels. While the majority I feel will label a person bad because they don't want to better themselves eve if that's just having better situational awareness or at least listen to advice instead of giving a you don't pay my sub and lul it's just a game type answers.

B. The white knights always using its a mmo excuse to defend everything.
C. Ppl who look at this game as a mmo and not a final fantasy ...first so 2 speak
And d. The ppl who defend things by it " it has great dps" which isn't a argument for ruining the jobs identity *cough summoner*


Im rlly tired of everything alot of us grew up with being made a mockery of for sake of its a mmo or for new players to be able 2 understand it...
I might care a little if everything myself and others grew up with was actually in game and to be honest this new ppl 2 ff defending devs while they insult what we grew up with just angers me

It wouldn't surprise me if they added anima primal that shoots rainbow and glitter because she is 2 hard for new ppl 2 ff

Players that waste other people's time. Look, if you wanna play the way that you want to, don't do it on other players time. Looking at you no AoE dps, ice mages etc

You really need to get off your high horse with this. I know people who haven't played a FF before this who have cleared ultimate - this to you is a bad player? No, stop gatekeeping. Assuming someone is bad because they haven't played a FF before this actually makes you not only a bad player but a bad judge of character - get outta here with that gross assumption/opinion or actually stand back and take in the fact people don't have to go through the same experiences - playing past games - to be decent at this MMO.

Instead of, you know, offending everyone who hasn't had the pleasure of playing the other FFs for whatever reason.

Don't be a selfish prick and you will not get the 'bad player' tag from me. This basically encompasses a lot of crappy behavior I see in duties.

I am extremely tolerant of underperformances, especially in progression content. I have zero tolerance for elitism and douchebaggery in ANY content.

In my experience, it is always the people who yell elitism and screech the word 'toxic' so often that are terrible players. I just finished my final Tank mount and have done this by doing almost exclusively normal mode SB content (raids). I just expect the basics. But the amount of people who do not even understand the basics of their class, present almost every run. No shirks, no Diversions, terrible DPS, insane amounts of overhealing, there are just so many people in this game, at level 70 and experienced that have such a poor playstyle that it's actually quite sad. For me, a bad player has nothing to do with ridiculous fluff like "being toxic" or "not seeing that this game is for fun". That is a behavioural "issue". A bad player is someone who progressed levels on their class but does not take out the time to hit the striking dummy for a bit, to take 10 minutes to look at a guide video, to not even read tooltips, don't come prepared to raids and generally waste the time of all other people involved. And there are plenty of these people.

I know this is a troll but it's a great example of what a "Bad" Player is to me.

Just try your best and actually listen when someone gives you well meaning advice. Some people learn content slowly, and others like myself tend to run around like headless chicken due to overstimulation when learning new mechanics. So long as they keep plugging away and show a genuine desire to learn I will never consider them bad, even if it might take them days or even weeks to nail the content.

About the only times I will consider someone 'bad' is if I know they aren't trying or even willing to care to do so and are selfishly holding other people back. I had this in the first FC I joined when I came to Balmung, where a married couple basically constantly sabotaged progression for everyone else because they thought it was funny and didn't care about getting the clear. It turned me off progressing content for a long time, even when they left and I summarily moved to another less toxic FC.

That and when someone goes into content thinking they're Hydaelyn's gift to mankind and then proceed to make the run hell on their teammates due to their ego.

tldr; be a decent human being and you're already a good player in my eyes.

Bad players are people who:

-Spam reversal edge

-Rage quit when I'm about to beat them

-Play Nightmare exclusively
