Overblown.
Within the discord, channels are public. You can drop in on all the raid coordination and voice chats at will once you've agreed to the discord rules. People are constantly forming learning and clear parties and re-clear parties for dead people. There are no prerequisites to join, the only rules that people have to agree to are
1.) If you are a discord member, be courteous to other groups on the discord trying to form parties. Don't steal portals from *other discord members* (this basically amounts to a Raubahn EX line, if you want to join runs with them, then join a raid and coordinate with us, don't piggyback off our run skipping the tedious part and then expect to use their resources to clear)
2.) Dont harass people who are not in the discord who enter and try to include randoms when possible
In other words, anyone is perfectly fine to join the content, whatever, but if you want to use the discord's tools and the discord's players and the discord's callouts and be in line for the discord's sacrifice chains, you have to agree to be courteous to other discord members and not interfere with their runs.
Now there are cases where runs will politely ask if people will let the group have the portals because they've organized 48-56 people who are at the same stage of learning and have been trying to get in for a few hours. (It's very disheartening when 48 people have been working together on something for a week only to have 4 hours of progression down the drain because a random person who didn't know the fights jumps in and blows an orb up on the healers or something, but there's nothing you can do about it).
Most of the "this instance is ours" stuff that sounds bad is actually groups within the discord competing for an instance because there are so many people trying to do a run and it gets congested. There are also some players in the discord who are taking it too far and not playing nice with outsiders, and the discord admins are asking for evidence so they can take action against toxic community members.
I am on the NA Primal servers, and whenever I am in Hydatos, all I hear about is "Not enough people for BA :<" and the portals despawn. It might be to do with my timezone though, so if you are having problems, maybe try going at a time other than prime time?
Why are you quoting me, I was merely summarising what OP said and reacted. Don't make it look like I'm flinging out this accusation xD
I'm being pedantic but agreeing to rules is a prerequisite. Not disputing that the rules are reasonable. Just saying.
So is this a case of the game not creating enough instances of BA, which then causes people to fight over instances? Bear in mind I haven't even set foot in Hydatos yet never mind do BA.
As for the bad eggs, well anyone unfortunate enough to know is aware that it can take only one to make an entire group look really bad. I hope for that discord group they sort this out fast, because it's causing them to get very controversial attention.
It is definitely true that there aren't enough instances. If primal is anything like Aether, people can spend hours queueing and requeueing hydatos in hopes of finding an instance that doesn't already have another premade there. This content really isn't designed to support premades, but premades greatly increase your chance of actually succeeding.
Aether has a similar discord and in it they emphasize being polite and not harassing people if your portal does end up being grabbed by someone else. The majority of people understand that attempting to swoop in and take all the portals in an instance isn't something that the developers are going to openly protect and that people are going to have the right to grab a portal and go in without a premade so long as they don't attempt to sabotage a run.
From my experiences the vast majority of players do *not* want to upset people because they know if you're being rude about it you're just going to encourage players to take your portals just to upset you.
Quoted because of "Holy moly, this sounds insane. If what OP is saying is true this has got to be against some rule. There is no way that it's okay to hold content hostage unless you sign a player created ToS."
There is no "holding the content hostage," but there are ALWAYS player created rules. It's the same as trying to join a static or a PF with a predefined strategy. If all the PFs says clockwise, but you want to do counterclockwise, you either start your own group and do it your way or you don't join. If the PF requires discord and you don't want to join discord, you don't join the PF. The difference here is of course, that the instances are limited, but there is nothing stopping anyone, if they want, to from starting their own group and attempting the content. The only rule is that if you want to use the discord and raid with the discord using the discord's tools, you have to agree to abide by some basic rules of courtesy.
It's only a "visible" problem because the people who REALLY wanted to clear the content all joined the discord. As a result, if the premades don't go on, basically no one does. So the few people who are extremely averse to joining a discord for whatever reason, don't get anywhere. I don't really know how to help them, the content is not friendly to just dropping in because you're in the zone.
The fact that pug groups are clearing BA doesn't matter because it goes against your poor excuse to justify this stupid level of elitism? Like, woah, anyone can clear the first three floors of savage joining a random PF in week 1, but now out of nowhere a dungeon needs Discord and the most hardcore players ever in existence. On top of that, people is unable to use the ingame chat to organize the instance, explain mechanics and use macros on bosses, did BA turn into the Feast or something?
Just LMAO.
I mean... breathing offensively can get you a ban due to the new rules, are you really surprised that people are no longer willing to talk in game?
I'm not in this discord being discussed but I am in another that just run when people are around. We don't talk in game either and we've actively told our members to not engage in any shout or public discussion. It's not worth it.
From what OP was saying it seemed no other groups could even attempt BA because of the deliberate actions of a specific group who are intentionally preventing others from doing so. That would be holding content hostage because in this example players are preventing people from even entering. This isn't remotely the same as making a PF group for savage and doing a specific tactic. One group saying "we do this tactic" doesn't prevent another group from entering the instance. This is apples and oranges.
But you said what OP said isn't what's happening so even debating this is completely pointless.
Still puzzled why you decided to target me with your corrections though. I wouldn't have said what I said had OP not mislead me. Go to the source instead maybe? I'm not even in Primal and I haven't even seen Hydatos. I have literally zero to do with this.
