Splitting up friends defeats the spirit of an MMO. Please reverse this server mess.

They've already tried this last expansion for about a year. (Preferred servers) I'm guessing not enough people are leaving.

Right now Balmung is still locked, but when the expansion comes out there is going to be a surge of people coming back to the game already on the servers being moved that aren't being counted in the "active player" graphs being shared right now so they are trying to mitigate the "no instances" spamming NPC nonsense that even happened again for a little while for the Omega story instance when the player base is missing a lot of active characters from the SB peak.

So they waited about 2 years to see if the player base would fix it themselves and I guess it's not satisfactory.

Adding a new datacenter and moving existing servers adds more instances at least and distributes the load for the expansion influx.

If they go through with it, hopefully they do this somewhere during the couple month dead period before the expansion and not on 4.5 launch so people get the full 6 months for the raid tier before having to decide.

I think this is one thing being missed in all the outrage. The housing crisis may be solved with the expansion.

How, it's not like SE is ADDING more wards yet, or at least, they haven't said they are. If anything, the housing crisis will simply continue as it has since it was released, only difference is, now you'll have a large displaced population that once had, and will be unable to get back. You want to solve the housing problems? How about ending personal housing in the wards and actually give people instanced housing?

you didnt read what i wrote did you?

They mentioned fixing up ishgard in the keynote, and people wanting to live there. Presumably, after being repaired, you would be able to access housing. but since the repair is done by players, it would be somewhat difficult to add wards as the player complete the repair, no?

Aka, adding instanced housing tied to crafter and gatherer end game content.

Well it does happen and if you are a non rp'er its annoying as all get out. There have been multiple instances over the years where ppl think its ok to RP in both 4 man and alliance dungeons or worse.... other ppls houses. I had to lock my house down and remove any outdoor furniture they could sit on, bath in or climb on to keep my RP neighbors out of it. They were annoying as it was talking in open chat about their pretend day while in my house but once I logged in and found 2 of them ERPing in my house, I was done. And the GMs wouldn't do anything, just told me to lock it.

I was honestly dreading having Balmung get access to Sarg and was relieved when I saw they were going to be on a different DC.

If you want to be literal its actually, spent 20m gil? here have 23m. So, yes 3m gil free.

You can literally remove almost all your furniture, load up your retainers and make 3m gil free. But if your house is more important than loosing the ability to play with a few friends who are already on a different server and having the ability to meet thousands of new friends than building lasting relationships in an mmo is not your priority anyway.

Overall this is for the greater good of the game and not to many ppl are going to suffer. They are even doing a lot more than they should to compensate. However we all know the few that do suffer are going to be amazingly loud about it because they, as an individual, are more important than the health of the game they claim to love so very much.

Additionally, many people have spent months getting a house. And getting your money back is not helpful, when you likely won't be able to land a house on another server, because of a poorly designed housing system.

No one wins with this server reshuffle.
And no one asked for this.

Many people will likely lose any motivation to play this game once their social circles get split up.

Please stop this server disaster from happening.

This whole system doesn't make sense to me.

Their intent was to "make it easier for friends to get together", yet as has been stated, they're cutting off several friends from one another by shuffling the servers between data centers.

I really cannot see any good coming out of this change, since it's also going screw up the economy and the hunt community.

How the hell is this going to screw up the economy, more competition is good for everyone.

I'm actually a bit worried how the duty finder/party finder will be affected by this shuffle. I'm on Balmung, have been since 1.0 (when it was Besaid before the merge), and I've loved being on the most populated server/data center. Queues are good and groups are a plenty. How will it be on Crystal? I'm just a bit worried that's all. Transferring isn't really an option either since I have a house and i love my plot and that's not guaranteed if I transfer. I also have a FC and friends that I would be leaving if they did or didn't decide to transfer since they could go anywhere.
