Skipping cutscenes in MSQ Roulette

Sorry but agreeing to be a mentor means your in it to assist new players, this is what you are being rewarded for, dropping out as a mentor just because the Castrum or Pra comes up is bad mentor behaver, as a mentor you are needed to assist new players regardless of what dungeon it is. If you do not wish to continue that role then your mentor statis should be revolked.

You can drop the pointless lecturing. I've made my stance clear. This was a boneheaded change on SE's part and this is my way of protesting it.


I'm also not going to just stop progress on getting my mount just because they ruined 2 dungeons out of the hundred+ things on the roulette.

The dungeons are a joke, they can probably be cleared with a light party with how overgeared they are nowadays. I'm not needed there and I sure don't need to waste close to an hour of my time in there when most other things on the roulette can be cleared in 20 minutes or less.

Rejected, don't gotta do anything. I'm bailing, and you can't stop me. Heck, I'll take it a step further and remind everyone that since I'm eating the penalty, they can also bail with no consequence. If they remove my mentor roulette because I bail on Castrum/Praetorium in mentor roulette, it's going to hurt Square a hell of a lot more in the long term than it's ever going to hurt me.

Besides, the MSQ dungeons are so overnerfed right now there's just nothing to teach. It's a waste of time -- not even counting cutscenes -- for 7 other people to be there, let alone mentors.

The fault for this entire situation rests entirely on Square's shoulders. They've known these dungeons were trash for five years, admitted they were a mistake five years ago, yet never properly fixed them. At best they've wallpapered over the crap smeared on the wall with incentives to rerun these dungeons or overly-zealous nerfs to the combat encounters. Doesn't fix the underlying problem of the dungeon being embarrassingly designed cutscene corridors with more cutscene than corridor.

Players are going to play, and thus the community reaction is a natural and expected reaction to abysmal design. The blame needs to pointed straight at the designers that created it, that ignored it, and fail to maintain it. Five years is beyond an oversight and deep into the realm of incompetence by the team at Square.

Being a mentor doesn't mean that I, or any other mentors, are required to do anything. We exist however to help when we can, however we can. If we don't feel like it we don't feel like it. There are no obligations. But if at least some of us didn't want to be helpful, we would leave our crowns off. I leave mine on. That doesn't mean I'm at anyone's beck and call though. There are some people who probably shouldn't be mentors but wear the crown anyway, but that's not everyone.

This is a common thing with everything. Not only in this game, but life. For simplicity sake though, I will stick with the game. It is always much tougher to get to the meat, than it is to actually eat it. As an example, when I craft, it takes me WAY longer to acquire the means and the mats to craft something difficult than it does to actually craft it. The same can be said for MSQ roulette. The battles are short and brainless, but the cutscenes are filled with story content, and that is the purpose.

Don't go into MSQ roulette expecting any kind of hard fought battle to clear. If you do, you're probably five years late to the game. This roulette is all allowing first timers experiencing the story as intended.

Sorry no, the current MSQ roulette is not allowing new players to experience the story as intended. "Intended" would include some awesome, memorable, fights in Praetorium and those have been absolutely ruined.

I've always been skipping them, since so far it allows me to.

I must have not got to a "no skip" part yet. I'm up to the level 42, or so, MSQs.

I just assumed other people might not like me NOT skipping them, so they might boot me (coming from Wow, this would not seem uncommon...)

However, I've yet to do "roulettes." Is that where they DON'T let you skip them?

So you mean, all this time I could have been WATCHING them?

The thread is about two dungeons you'll hit at 50 which each last about 40-50 minutes (watch someone swoop in with amigad its totally 35min), most of which is eye-roll unskippable animu cutscenes and even worse boss fights.

Don't look forward to it. Most of the people that profess to enjoy them (not all) are players looking back on them with rose-tinted glasses, people that like to watch Netflix more than they like to play the game, or ... people that like Youtube more than they like to play the game.

I've had more complaints with new players treating them as a rite of passage rather than anything worth experiencing.

To make matters worse, I wish I could tell you it gets better after these dungheaps of dungeons, but no-- the leadup to Heavensward is an object lesson in a development team not having any idea what to do next until suddenly they have a decent idea right before Heavensward starts.

I am glad they did that. At first I thought I will have to skip those scenes and view them later, at my inn room, since that was the perception I got from watching guides. But I guess those guides were old and my experience in Castrum and Praetorium was much better because of this change. I do understand those that do not want to watch them for the n-th time, as they are unnecessarily long and they do appear to be longer than fights themselves. But you guys do have countless other dungeons, trials or raids to farm, while 1-50 MSQ only has those two to finish it and watching cutscenes while doing dungeon does make the entire experience more enjoyable.

It's people like yourself that need to understand what a Mentor is. You clearly don't. Believe it or not, we are players just like everyone else. And true mentors help those in need of assistance to the best of their ability or for however much time they're able. But there are times where we can't or are unwilling to do so. We've got things to do too, you know.
