Eureka Pagos needs some rebalencing adjustments

Yep Pagos is still terrible. I went in for 2 mins and turn off the game to watch Netflix and was so happy. Pagos is so bad even when it was new, and Pyros just sounds terrible. And the cherry on top is the relic getting randomized substats is the nail in the coffin making it glamour or skippable all together. Just glad I have plenty of Doggos to can’t after.

Aren't substats secondary to ilvl and main stat anyway? Even if you don't get your idea substats a ilvl 400 weapon or whatever we end up at in Pyros will be nothing to sneeze at.

Anyway, while I didn't mind Anemos much once I got some momentum I hated Pagos much more. My issues mostly boil down to two things.

1. Overall map design is annoying. That central canyon where you have to slow walk past the dragons etc. The cliffs. The fact the NW aetheryte ought to be like level 25 or 27 given the level range of NMs in that area. The map and layout are a pain, and this time no mount until level cap.

2. Light grinding. Okay so you want us to have to do soemthing besides Lou a couple times once we hit level capt to get our relic, fine, but filling up the bar 31 times feels excessive.

If they give Pyros a better laid out map and cut down on the light grind I'll be much happier. As it is I'm starting to regret committing to the SB Relic.

Dont know what data center or what times you are on but I'm on the Aether data center - Zalera and at pretty much any time of day I go into Pagos its anywhere between 75 - 130 people in the instance. That includes last night when I logged in at 11:30pm and played up to 1:30am. I get the hate on for it being the "only" way to get the relic but it is the reason people are and will continue to do it, even if they hate it.

That last fact is what I hope SE takes away from this endeavor. If you really want to get players to do a piece of content you MUST have a reward thats worth getting. Because if the reward is good enough then people will do content they despise. Its much easier to do that than to get people to do good content with shitty/useless rewards.

Pagos just having the weapons also feels a bit odd.

Now, I know they can only add so many new armor models to the game. But having the upgraded and ultimately dyable af3 gear in Anemos helped to make it more rewarding. It wasn't JUST for weapons but also a good source of 350 gear helped for me to justify its existance.

But entirely new zones, elemental leveling system, magecite system etc all just for relics? I feel like the resources spent on Eureka would have been better spent being poured into other areas of the game instead of just for relics.

In general the element system has been kind of a wash. You just spin the wheel to what you're fighting is weak to and nothing changes gameplay wise.

I'm on Aether too and I generally tend to see under 50 ppl in an instance at most times since 4.4 unless its peak hours. So idk if I'm just getting newer instances or what but 75+ ppl only happens during peak times. My roomie went in a couple hrs ago and there were only 42 ppl in the zone and some had been in there for an hr. And that's kindda been the norm since the patch. I have even gone in to a zone of 20-something ppl who had less than 100 minutes left. So something is wonky there.

There was a huge drop when the patch hit but it seems like people are starting to trickle back into Pagos, though it feels like not as many as there were pre patch still.

Or they can make good content with good rewards and not try to force people into garbage. Your philosophy only works for so long. If content continues to miss the mark, people will abandon it no matter what you put in there. Look no further than PvP. They've desperately tried to bolster activity, even putting in exclusive mounts—the only piece of content in the game where rewards are actually exclusive. It's still been more or less a failure.

Not necessarily. For example, Dragoon BiS actually uses two i380 crafted accessories because it breaks thresholds. Well that, and Skill Speed is more or less a dead stat above 655 unless you reach 2,405.

Keeping with Dragoon. The tome weapon is Direct Hit/Determination. Therefore, unless I get Crit main, the relic isn't going to touch the tome weapon. Regardless, it takes significantly less time to obtain what may be a superior weapon. That's why people have been so uppity about the relic outside of poorly designed Pagos is.

Absolutely agree! Both of those things make a great game and are needed to have a long lasting product. What I was meaning by that is SE really is awful at rewarding their players in any meaningful way in this MMO. They have "some" content that is fun an engaging but it is not long lasting without their forced extensions (Weekly lockouts). Its truly disappointing to see the back catalogue of content and ideas as a company, let alone as FF, and then look at FFXIV and think, this was the best and most engaging thing they could come up with?

Bah, I'm starting t ramble and get all over the place. Rewards vs content vs customization is a huge topic and one I'm passionate about. I honestly dont see any meaningful changes coming until the next Dalamud to hit eorzea and wipe the slate clean, but they will never do that a second time.

It should be adjusted out of the game.

If they made it to where could trade in crystals from nm's there like can in the first Eureka for other type of crystals. I would be there a lot more. They also need to make item drops from nm's way higher chance and increase the chance of getting rare items from loot bags and chests. That be the only way I would go back to that boring place.
