Being a bad mentor(we should be able to report ppl for being a bad mentor)

You can be a mentor and be absolutely awful at the game and you will remain a mentor. Literally all you have to do is obey all the same rules as the rest of the playerbase. There are zero extra standards placed on mentors by SE beyond the base requirements to unlock the status/roulette.

I'm not a fan of this myself but misrepresenting it especially in a thread started by a sprout seems disingenuous.

Until you can force a sprout to learn, you shouldn’t expect to force a mentor to teach.

While I agree that mentors are human and shouldn't be required to know EVERYTHING about the game - you are WILLINGLY flagging yourself as "I am here to help new players." That crown is not a little aesthetic symbol next to your username to show you're better than other people.

If you queue for Mentor Roulette or you put that crown on, then you are flagging yourself as someone willing and able to help new players through content. You don't wanna do that - then don't put the crown on, simple as that.

Maybe you should take a step back and try reading carefully..and not jumping to conclusions.
I was referring to verbal treatment by the way...but since you've decided to jump to conclusions....I guess your on your own.

Hmm. Maybe people read some guides before insult "bad" mentors? (Yeah, i know about REALLY bad mentors, but most time people insult because they teach, not carry their lazy faces in content).
As for mentors, what they should do? Just play with 100% hard and some tips (if extreme). Nothing all.

Mentorship is a choice. I became a mentor myself because I am pretty knowledgeable and I enjoy helping new players and giving advice. If I don't feel like mentoring that day, I'll turn my flag off and leave NN.

I personally don't understand why anyone would volunteer for mentorship and then complain about having to be one. It'd be like choosing to become a teacher and complaining about having to teach children.

While I will admit there are some mentors out there that really have no idea what their doing the ration to terrible players who complain about mentors for thedumbest things. If people explain things and still wipe, expect for mentors to carry them, or people go afk and mentors leave they are the bad ones?

What is the purpose of a mentor;

It's not to baby sit, but try and help, or assist as needed or when needed. Some are more pushy than others however it is just because they think about the group as a whole. Individuals are not special no one is.

We are not meant to carry people to clear content, or be your friend that sugar coats things. We paid our dues and many of us will hesitate those who can't help themselves, don't know their job properly, or give you a trophy for trying. That is what FC's are for. -.-;

Sorry if it sounds harsh but they are facts. Wanting to report a mentor for not getting your way it's not a valid excuse. Let's face it most people who complain about mentors usually fall under that category,

NOTE; ONCE AGAIN THERE ARE SOME MENTORS THAT ARE TROLLS.

Summary; Reporting mentors is as useless as reporting things are unfair in the game or trying to band shouting. Nobody cares about it, we can pretend we do, have an option to blacklist or mute, yet no one does it.

No, I'm still right and you're still wrong.

Mentors are not held to any more prohibitive language restrictions than the rest of the playerbase. There are zero requirements beyond the initial unlock. None. None at all.

Maybe stop misinforming people ;)

You don't pay their sub so you don't get to tell them how to play. On the flip side, they do pay SE a monthly sub, so that's not going to happen.

To be fair, unless we're given a chat transcript, we can't be certain OP isn't, shall we say, paraphrasing. I'm not saying they don't exist, but we are talking about a specific case here the details of which we don't know.

Hyomin explained it quite well, and I agree with her about that issue...

Basically I do not blame any mentor for not offering advice...there are too many sensitive people playing this game who get angry immediately if you give unsolicited advice about mechanics or their roles/jobs, and I don't blame mentors for actively avoiding verbal abuse as much as possible by simply not bothering to type anything.

I have a long list of abuse received from just offering very polite suggestions as a mentor...eventually you just give up since no one wants people screaming insults at them.

Why are you berating the OP like this?

They never said they are undergeared, want to be carried, or don't want to learn...in fact they said they looked up a guide for the extreme. Newbies rarely do that and it is a good thing that OP looked it up in order to prepare.

If anything it shows they don't want to be carried, but they still might need some extra help ingame since newbies are newbies. Yes, you can't force a mentor to explain things so OP is incorrect about their idea that mentors can be punished for simply not typing anything, but I don't see anything wrong with the OP as a player so I don't get this rant at them.

I know you said not you personally, but you seem to be singling them out with all of this rant as well by adding them "collectively" to people who complain about mentors.

This seems like a lot of misplaced anger. OP didn't hurt you.
