Nero's got no room to talk, incidentally; I felt like that whole scene spoke more to how Nero's character development is transpiring than to something he somehow knows about Cid better than Cid knows himself. Nero is a positivist when it comes to science; nothing Cid ever went through is epistemologically intelligible to him. I'm nitpicking a little bit, but I get moody when character history is conflated with flaws when the character in question has a trauma narrative, haha. :p

I don't think the time thing overly bothers me. Its just a bit funny that the entire events of FF14 technically happen in a space of a year. That is extremely efficient use of time on the WoL's part.

Had another thought about Giaus' characterization from 1.0 vs 2.0. At the end of 1.0 Giaus has a pretty good idea of who the WoL is. They're the person he tells about the VIIth Legion being at Cartenau and he probably knows they're the one dealing with the Primal summonings, never-mind all the times the 1.0 went up against Nael and the legions and won (or at least, didn't lose). Then at the end of 1.0, the WoL disappears and everyone forgets who they were/the specifics of what they did. I'd have to assume that includes Giaus as well.
I wonder if he assumed the 1.0 WoL would be around after the Calamity only for it to look like the WoL either hadn't survived Cartenau or had abandoned Eorzea right when they would need a WoL the most. 'Cause if the WoL had been around between 1.0 and 2.0 (as the WoL and not a random nobody) I wonder if Giaus would have thought Ultima Weapon was as needed to take the primals down... At the very least, Giaus acts like both the 1.0 and 2.0 WoL are strong enough that he can respect them, which makes it sound like if he had recognized the 1.0 WoL when he first runs into them in 2.0, he might have decided to do things differently.
The irony is that Giaus probably would have ended up remembering the 1.0 WoL along with everyone else not long after the WoL destroys Ultima Weapon. It'll be interesting to see what/if he remembers anything from 1.0. Actually, just seeing his version of events of 1.0 will be interesting...
