I just pretend my Race chocobo is the one I summon, no matter what the game says. ;P

I thought it was more a question of whether they are dark meat or light meat.

People actually continue to use their chocobos after other options become available? I thought the reason we had so many other mount options was because they recognized the ugliness of the riding chicken.

At the end of the day, all chocobos are one thing: heal me, heal me, omg stop flapping around and heal me, you walking drumstick! /faceplants the ground dead

No.
There were lore specific reasons we all got male chocobos and I'm fine with that.
We got a female one later on in Heavensward.

You can't fight with Fenrir or a pony.

By lore, the Warrior of Light's companion chocobo is Male. Female tamed chocobos are in the hands of the Holy See of Ishgard.

Wait, the black chocobo? I don't think I even remember the dialog surrounding that one.

I dressed up my bird in feminie attire until I suddenly realized it was a noy all along.

The deal is, while fictional, it's an animal. I doubt your beloved bird, male or not, would care if you dress it in hearts and flowers because you are lavishing it with love and attention. It's going to follow you to the pits of hell in whether in a maid costume or butler costume, it just wants a few good pats and some greens in return.

People default to calling dogs "good boy" unless told otherwise so I'd imagine Eorzeans do the same with Chocobos.
