And the logs thing......I hate that....it gives people a license to beat you over the head with a baseball bat.....and I wish SE would crack down harder on it....not for its function..but for the abuse it causes when people use it stupidly.

I'd say come over to Admantoise - but its not EU..it's NA...and I'm no where near ready for savage..IMHO.

What I would suggest is, I am seeing if myself and a friend I met through pugging content (who's on Odin), wants to make a static. If we do, I'll see if we can get you in there. To me, if I feel we need something, I'll explain why I want something, and I'll take the lead (switching myself if needs be, in order to make it work). To me, while the meta does help, what's more important is people playing on something they're good at. If you're good at SAM, I want you as a SAM. We'll find a way to make it work (and if not, we'll work together to find a compromise). That to me is fair.

Exactly the reason I've hidden everything on fflogs. Because 1 or 2 parses isnt in anyway an accurate representation of my abilities. And I'm not gonna start parsing and uploading everything I do just to make a more accurate representation.

There's one problem with that. Those same jerks that come in and call your parse garbage and leave, will then say "They refuse to show their parses, they must be garbage, I can't stay, bye! And get rid of that parse hiding player while you're at it, you'll be doing yourself a favour" - they'll harass whether your parses are bad or hidden. Generally speaking, they're the tryhards that aren't very good themselves. And while I myself aren't very good, I'm not going to take on that sort of attitude. I'd rather be constructive and build us all up together.

I have to say, if most of the players were half as friendly as you, then we would have all way more fun with raiding :p @Paladinleeds @Silverlunarfox @Nephtys

Also, Nephtys I will have to switch in January to NA and we decided to go for Gilgamesh which is the same data center. If you ever feel up to savages, I'd be happy to guide you through o1s and o2s. o3s I will clear hopefully this week.

Agreed :P I always feel a game shouldn't be like a second job. I already have one, I don't need another. You can be good at a game and have fun at the same time! That's how I view raiding. Good challenging fun!

But people will be people.

You've got a good point there. But I get everyone who is hiding their parses, it's basically no one's business except yours. Parses/fflogs are a tool meant for improvement and not to harass others or measure *****.
It's a weird concept imo that everyone can upload without your consent. And as Dzian said, to get an accurate representation of yourself, you'd have to do regular fflog runs and upload all of them.

Any job composition work as long as you don't have duplicated jobs. These people excluding some jobs because of 'party buffs' are just copying what they read on Reddit with no understanding. What is the point in having meta group when the players cannot perform?

Anyways, not all jobs need to give a group buff. For example, WHM has no party buffs but has big heals, DRK has TBN which can be very useful.
SAM can be useful in a group that has no WAR or NIN, they give slashing resist down.

Also, all melees can reduce physical damage and all casters can reduce magical damage taken. They all can give TP and MP. So no dps is really useless to have. It just comes down to party buffs.

Balance to me is:
When a job is hard to play, it is rewarding. Aka not doing the same dps as an easy job.

If they give all jobs similar buffs, people will start benching jobs based on personal dps.
If you let them all do similar dps, who is going to play a hard job when there is an easier one with same dps and buffs the party? Very few people.

There is always going to be least favored tank, healer and dps, but that doesn't mean that they should be benched because of 'buffs'.
Take RDM for example, it has great raid utility and decent party buff. Yet it is not used for speed kills, there are better options. But it is a great job to have for progression and learning. It is very useful when mistakes happen.

Honestly, every job has something good to offer, but people are blinded by meta and ignore every other job utility "It is not meta, therefore it is bad".

Parse isn't even really something important in most cases. I generally don't care about other party member's parses unless its a situation like I had in the past where an FC mate posted a screenshot of the parse at the end of a 8 man PUG raid that showed the top 4 slots being held by the 2 tanks and 2 healers (which we were part of) and 1 or 2 of the DPS actually outputting less overall damage during the battle than the LB3 that was used.

Oh we call those wannabe elitists where they want specific jobs to carry their own poor performance. Sigh I still remember Bismarck hard during heavenwards release telling mchs to disband even if they were top dps sickens me.
