Yeah I am a crazy no-lifer playing long sessions every day of those 4+ years between ARR release and now; still not even close to unlocking this mount. Would take a hunt obsession to get it done. Maybe they should have put the regular tiger on lower requirement, and a white tiger variant on the insane requirement, so the very dedicated people would still get something rare and unique to them but everyone else who puts in reasonable effort over a more realistic but still long period of time can enjoy a tiger too.

For such a rare mount it should glow at least!...
I don't have an issue with the requirements, it's not meant to be done in a couple of months but for players that have been hunting for the longest time, proof of that is the one player I've seen on my server riding it the first day (unconfirmed) after Stormblood's release!...
I will also own that tiger, eventually!... :)

Sigh... "the most impossible mount to obtain in the game" i guess thats why there is 3 peoples at least on Ultros that got it, including me >_> I started hunting in ARR and got it about... a month ago i think? Between ARR and SB i took about 6-8 months break from the game too. So no, i do not agree with lowering the requirement for this, you want it? Work for it, help pop those S rank and monitor the windows they are open.
Yes 2000 S is a LOT but thats the whole point... this is the only reward hunters actually get from all those years of hunting (Nobody care for seals to upgrade gear) and its a normal regular friggin Tiger lol... for years of hunting you get a plain looking one -_- I would agree that having this one as a centurio/log mount would have been perfect and having a more badass rainbow farting Tiger be the 2k achievement.

There's a difference between rare and completely inaccessible
1000 S ranks is still a considerable amount of effort to put in for a mount, especially given that S rank hunts don't always spawn when their windows are up
I spent a good two hours jumping off Witchdrop once and Safat never showed, and the thought of having to suffer that kind of RNG 2000 times is...daunting, to say the least
2000 is accessible only to players who've been here actively hunting since FFXIV: ARR went live. To the rest of us, it's an impossible mountain to climb, and that just isn't fair to new players (and to anyone who might chime in to tell me that nothing is "fair": a lack of accessibility will mean a lack of new players, and without new players MMOs can't survive)
1000 S Ranks is still something you have to work for, and you will have to work hard, but it's something actually achievable compared to spending two hours spawning something that doesn't even feel like a drop in the bucket

I agree with this thread's OP, while the A rank time investment is reasonable as far as a "mount you have to work for" expectation, I believe killing two thousand S ranks is unreasonable.
It wouldn't be so bad of a mount to get: if they lowered the expectations for actually being able to both spawn and be present for S ranks. The ARR ones melt too quickly for someone to get to the hunt rank before it dies if someone early pulls; I would like to believe we all have That Person on any given server who pulls a hunt mark as soon as they arrive to where it is, regardless of type. S ranks are even worse though. So for those couple of thousand hours you have to invest in being able to be present and spawn those hunts, imagine how much worse it is if you can't grind out those S ranks consistently. Imagine how much worse it must be if you spawn the hunt mark and someone else kills it before you even get close! And oh Lord help you if you're in an instance when an S rank spawns. There goes 72 hours in this zone, have a beautiful time in the next zone attempting the same thing. As someone who has put time and effort into spawning hunt marks, it can get pretty frustrating putting over an hour into spawning a single, out of two thousand hunt marks you need for the mount. The drop in the bucket feels too insignificant and is more of a deterrent than an insentive.
I'm all for having fancy mounts for putting in time and effort. Maybe add B rank marks into the achievement as well while lower the requirement of S ranks. Maybe add more A ranks instead, but if only 30 people out of the current 10 million players have this mount, maybe something needs to change. I'd love the swole tiger and I'd love to put time and effort into it that make me feel like I could hopefully achieve it, rather than doing the achievement on the side because I simply can't justify putting all of my time and effort into this.

Did you ever spawned a single S rank?

Geez the sense of entitlement from people in this generation is horrible. There were at least 2 people that I knew on Balmung who had it as soon as SB came out. I'm about 1/3 of the way there but my relic grinding has taken me away from a lot of hunting this year(10 lux's done, an 11th is on the 9th rune of light step). It's alright for there to be some achievements that require years of investment. It's just like "Gasp", real life.
-
I'm at 883 S ranks killed after a year of playing, and I only got serious about hunting/spawning S ranks maybe around six months after I started.
I'm perfectly okay with some achievements only being obtainable over several months or even a few years, honestly.

"IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO GET"
'people had it on release day'
"THEY HAVE NO LIFE"
'you can get it within 2 years with minimal daily investment'
"MAKE ONE THATS SUPERDUPER SPECIAL AND JUST GIVE US THIS ONE"
'... why not just keep the current one at superduper special?'
perhaps it's because I have no desire for this thing.... but I am entertained that on the other end of "my thing isn't special because everyone gets it so easily" are these people.
