If you liked people you played with, you can always get their AIM/MSN/facebook info after saying goodbye to them ingame. Making a thread about quitting serves no purpose.

Sounds like they weren't having fun, but played anyway, because as long as an activity doesn't cost anything it doesn't matter whether you have fun or not. So logical!

Now that the game costs money, they can finally move on to something they might actually enjoy. Before they simply couldn't do that, because they had to play a game they didn't find fun.

whats so special about 2.0 anyway? sure, revamped maps and a new gramphic engine. but what does a nw engine mean? game will probably look the same anyway. and the nobelty of revamped maps will wear off after a week, just like the cataclysm of world of warcraft. then we are back to the same old boring game.

People who are so fixated on 2.0 are most likely the same people who have always been very optimistic about upcoming patches. The people who thought beta was some old version of the game and release would a much better much more advanced game. People who thought we needed to give SE a month or 2 because "No game is complete at release". People who thought Yoshi taking over in mid Dec 2010 was going to be the huge fix the game needed and that 2011 would bring FFXIV to the top of the MMO heap. The same guys that thought 1.18,1.19,1.20,....etc would be the golden patch.

Truth be told 2.0 will be another disappointment for the majority of the more than 600k people who have purchased the game. Just like Every.Single.Step.So far.

JP PS3 players may semi embrace the game to some degree. I doubt many others will tho. When you are required to(at that point) use the auto translator to talk to 4 out of 5 people the average English speaking console gamer wont play it.

FFXIV 2.0 will be a minor blip on the radar for anyone who doesnt speak Japanese.

OP sounds like she is one of the ones who will at least be coming back at some point, being in denial about the mass exodus that has already begun of the small population of active players is your own problem. Alot of people just don't want to pay for this game right now, period.. the amount, whether it be 5, 10, 15/month is hardly a concern for most everyone, the state of the game (especially for those of us who have been playing since launch) is the concern.. You can either choose to donate/support SE through this period or not.. Even if I do decide to keep my accounts active (which is what I'm leaning towards) I'm not planning on playing the game as it currently is.. but I'm not so dense to think that everyone who's ever enjoyed some aspect of this game should be obligated to pay a monthly fee when they're hardly enjoying themselves anymore. Way too many other, currently better, games to be experienced..
