This makes me appreciate my smaller server that much more. But as with the quote above, it simply won't matter even with the restriction. Not everyone can get a house the way it is, and there is no easy answer to fix the issue the way the housing stands now unless they completely did away with the current model, which they show no interest in doing. What they really should have done (and maybe they will do this in the future, who knows), is to have a separate section of each ward entirely for FC houses. Just mansions in that district. If you were to move there, you'd get bonuses similar to the bonuses that people got when they went to less populated servers - like an XP bonus for the FC plus the players. Probably now that the moving system is in place, they can look at something like this to encourage FCs to move to an FC-only ward - thus freeing up more houses in general areas. Northern Gridania sounds like a likely spot to start with. Doesn't that idiot guard say something like "this is reserved for Gridanian elites" (as if saving the world from utter catastrophe doesn't count) :)

Housing in FFXIV is quite unfair, especially for Free Company housing. It has a greater need than those just wanting to own a home privately. I even feel it should take precedence over those wanting ownership of private large/medium homes, especially.
I feel SE could open a residential area up just for FC Estate halls to be located, leaving private homes elsewhere for purchase. I mean in real life we have subdivisions that are just zoned exclusively for private homes and industrial parks for businesses and the like. It makes sense in this regard, why not in game?
Sadly Shirogane is going to be yet another one of SE's hot messes, that they don't care to be bothered with fixing the problem or code a fix in for it. They just let us "deal with it" and hope we get over it. -

Also the FC needs a house so everyone in the FC can have a room for themselves and enjoy some of the benefits of housing. SO yea FC's should have priority over housing vs individual players.Quote:

I'm still on board with the group saying they need to take the current housing system down and revamp the whole darn thing. It's silly a company can't get a place to set up gardens, stables, rooms and the workshop for it's group. But sadly I don't see the system being reworked and even if they add more wards I doubt it'll be enough to fix the issue. On my server there is two folks owning an entire ward (yes I know the argument they got them before the server became flooded, don't bring it up here). But I can also tell you a fair number of Free Companies and personal home owners who own multiple lots in various wards.
My husband and I managed to get a small house, just so I could work on the gardening stuff and get it started for when we finally get a med-large building for the Fc. As soon as we get the Fc plot we'll be clearing out the small house and I'll give up the apartment I have (mainly for holding furnishings). It's not a lot but we figured that at least gave some others chances at housing as well (also by give up I don't mean re-sell the plot for 30mil for profit.. I mean up and leave or if I happen to know of a FC who needs/wants a plot at the time I'll make sure they get first call on it).
Really I do think personal and FC should be in different wards or locations. I'd rather see a Fc get a house and it's members get personal rooms rather than everyone spread out and trying to locate apartments all over the world just to hang out. -

How did you get it in your head that a week head-start to allow FC's to monopolize every single house plot in the new district is a good idea? No matter what, the housing rush will be hell because the housing system is inherently broken and HORRIBLY designed. Just grit your teeth and feel the disappointment like 98% of the player base
