Not throwing a match. I'm focusing on killing people and not bothering with ice. Who said I was throwing a match? I just said I'll do what I want and that is to kill people. I'm not idling or sitting around. Do I really need to say it? When you assume something what happens? You make an ASS of you and ME.
@ElazulHP: You're kind of the reason people think PvP in this game is a massive joke, and ruining it for those of us who do want to enjoy it and make it better. Would you mind seeing yourself out? Everyone already thinks your an a** based on that totally mature and well thought out response.
The tomes and exp are the only reason most people queue it. Before they were added PvP queues were epic long. Even longer than lol dps queues.
People say if they removed it all players would do is go back to pitd. Is that a bad thing? especially if they don't care about winning or losing. so why is sending them back to potd a bad thing if you don't want them on your team anyway sending them somewhere else seems the ideal solution. Outside of the once again epicly longer queue times for PvP for those that want to win.
The problem is the amount of players that want to actually try and win is ridiculously small. That's why the queue times used to be as bad as they were.
Don't get me wrong anyway I do fully agree with everything you said. But at the same time I am one of those guys that thinks like the person you quoted. The exp / tomes is the only reason I queue the frontlines roulette. So I fully admit I am one of those people that doesn't care if I win or lose.
Hell sometimes it's better to just give up and get the match done that 2 minutes faster for a higher exp : time ratio.
The whole thing is a mess but I guess it's a question of do you want fast queues? Or do you want people that want to actually win. I dont think you can reliably have both..
One thing they could do is scale the exp based on score. So if the winners get say 1.6 million exp for 1600 points.
The team that comes in second might get 1.5 million if they had 1500 points or 700k if they only had 700 points....
Might push even the losing team to try a bit harder because they might never win but they can still gain more from trying than just giving up
Well, I was strictly a pve player until the garo gear came. I enjoyed grinding out the wolf marks to get those items and am a little sad now that I have nothing to put my marks towards. (I dont care for the other stuff so far) The hellhound and seasonal equipment is great but I'll likely never obtained any of it. If they could allow access to those items to more people than top 10, I think it would be a big help.
Edit: Also, i always tried to win because victory rewared double marks.
You agree with me, yet you agree with them, and even flatly admit that it's better to just give up and throw the match for XP? Correct me if I'm wrong, but that too is a reportable offense, yes?
Let me perhaps paint this differently: If I perhaps were to raid with you, and I contribute minimally to damage, die a few times to mechanics that are easily avoidable, and am generally nasty and unwilling to take advice, it's perfectly fine as long as I get my loot, right?
Because that is what that kind of reasoning sounds like. (Also that's largely the biggest issue people have with Alliance raids.)
It should also be noted that we DID have fast queues and people that wanted to win before. No, it wasn't Garo, and pick a thread around here, I've said this multiple times. Lifting GC restrictions in the form of Frontline Freelancer allowed for easier matchmaking (like we said it would) is what improved queues greatly, especially after 3 years of the PvP community begging for it. Tomes were always there, yes, but so were all the other, better options for them. XP wasn't, and yet, the caliber and actual will to win of the players was higher. I would love to be wrong on it, but it's hard not to see where the issue is there. . .
As for. . . this:
It's a shame that you decided to take such a stance, but you're free to do so. . . But I'm also free to both vote kick you off my team for reasons of "different playstyle" (since I want to win but you clearly don't care). I would also like to point out the very flawed logic of that "Petition the developers" bit. Sorry, but the game doesn't need to be changed because you choose to be a nasty and uncooperative player. Then again, you'll be able to run dungeons with your squadron coming soon, so perhaps you might also find that a better option soon.
P.S. if you think I was rude in my first response to you, you should really look at yourself here. No editing it away and playing the "I don't have time for this" card, sorry.
There is a say i impose to myself daily:
"Your freedom ends where mine begins"
You are free to join only for the marks, of course, but you are only thinking about yourself and screwing up the rest of your team. In FFXIv, no matter if it is PVP or PVE, everything is team focused, team effort -or a grand part of the game-. Maybe in PVE a strong Ilevel can carry his team, but that does not happen in PVP. Either you play with your team to achieve a goal or you are giving the match to your adversaries, hindering your companions. In short, IT MATTERS.
