Yup, if left to their own devices people will imagine a building that you purchase, upgrade like the BoF II house with a lot of work, recruit NPCs to, Install shell stands, player quarters, airship docs, then airships, ships, basically their own hangout and mini town.

Then what they get is a npc to talk to that takes them to tha company's hamlet defense for a mini-besieged and they rage.

anything that requires you to kill, gather, deliver, or anything along the lines of doing anything can be compared to a leve....isnt that kinda sad? the only thing that leves dont have is cut scenes.

I agree with you there, it would probably be better if they did that.

Partially the players' fault for hoping for things that may not be. I try not to expect anything so I won't be let down. I don't mean that in a negative way.. I'm sure some people may misinterpret that. Hoping and expecting certain things for something you know nothing about usually ends up in a let down. I just prefer to wait and see what I'm given then suggest any changes that may make it better.

But them telling us what we're getting when they announce it, as you said, would probably get rid of the whole "hoping and expecting" thing. Thinking about it more.. I'm sure there'd be some cons to them doing that too.. Hmm..

MY suggestion on Company's... they may be called "Grand" but overhype will lead to massive rage on the forums.

Sorta like how the quest where going to be awesome, gamesaving, the best thing since sliced bread they would give us butt loads of sp/xp with voiced HQ cut scenes with long story arches displayed in a way no mmo has ever done before.... Yea the expectations where set a wee bit too high on those.

Until you told by square what exactly it will be or you actually see it in game assuming it will be uber awesome will only result in over hype and disappointment... this will make a decent update seem horrible due to falling way below expectations.
