Imo, the only "old content update" I want is that I keep all abilities of my jobs at lower levels. With item sync down, even with the better skills, content won't be too stomped. Guild Wars 2 was running a similar system where your level and gear get sync but you keep your entire skill set and builds. And in there doing a level 35 dungeon is as fun as doing a level 80 class.
I mean the roulette system is busted as it is. Take leveling roulette for example, sometimes you have a premade of 4, all of them are 60+ that just want to level up, then as they queue to Leveling Roulette they get effing Tam-tara.
With GW2 style sync, at least, you don't get bored when stuck into Sastasha, or gods forbid, Tot-rak, where you spend 35 minutes of your life spamming 1, 2, and if you're lucky, 3. All the while where you do NOT have fun at all... And the system is there just so some lowbie can get their clear.
SE can hit two birds with such a system: Lower level players can see higher level jobs in action to hype them some more, and more importantly, us higher levels do not dread low level instances as much as we do now.
