nah, they shouldn't remove the old tracks, tho, with 2.0 i'd say some of the tracks should go to different places/zones/occasions.
the new tracks really fit their situations, but some of the old ones, while good, simply don't fit.
ul'dah for example, or the ever repeating leve music in some zones.
also some battle tracks are just to intense for what we're actually fighting, most of the battle tracks feel like boss battle themes that were squeezed to whereever the developer felt like.
i don't think removing them is necessary, just let them shine in a new way.
Yes IMO. I disliked all of the old tracks. I even turned the background music off until recently because I found them to be full of such boorish, cheesy nostalgia. That said, the new ones could use some work too, hire Amon Tobin!
A lot of people on here seem to like them but I doubt many who are coming to this game without an FF background would.

Good points in the OP. however, it's useful to draw a distinction between compositions and arrangements. On the surface, the leve music sounds like balls but upon close inspection this is due to the arrangement. Try looking up some piano renditions of the battle leve music. You will find that it is really beautiful when it's not rendered as 80s guitar rock. I'm for Nobuo revising his tracks.
Being in the black shroud makes me sleepy and yawn, its not bad. its just music designed to make you sleepy
Keep the battle themes, keep the leve themes, keep Grid/Ul'dah's city themes, Coerthas, Thanalan, La Noscea, Gridana's lower level theme, Mor Dhona. Keep those. keep the song that plays during quest battles, and keep the NM battle theme used in Toto-rak, and the toto-rak music. Do away with the boat theme, and the market ward theme, do whatever you wish with everything else.
Glad to see that Mizuta and Seikto picked the game up, but don't act as though Uematsu's work was bad, because it wasn't.

U.Mines
Moogle Boss theme
GC Chocobo Theme

Everything else you haven't heard before and they added in are part of the original soundtrack. Gridania's new lower level area theme was part of the original soundtrack.
I do like the music in FFXIV a lot, but some feel different than what I am use to with Nobuo's music. My guess is he was told to make music that would sound pleasing to western players, which I bet wasn't easy for him. I give FFXIV's soundtrack a thumbs up, but I have definitely heard better from Nobuo.
If they do decide to change the music here and there, I would like it to sound more classical or possibly orchestrated. I understand it is an MMO and many tracks will come in time, but I really feel like the music is a step down from the quality that FFXIII gave. Even FFXI's music was able to blend itself well, and I hope they can accomplish this with FFXIV.
EDIT: Also to mention, I would like it if they changed how music in dungeons work. Nanawa Mines for example, things die so fast you only hear one to two seconds of the battle theme. Can we make a dungeon theme that helps blend itself in and out. The lv.15 dungeon is a step in the right direction of how dungeon music should work, but could use a tad bit a tweaking.
Kingdom Hearts series is another good example, the way it is setup, the battle music blends itself in very well when enemies pop out of no where, and slowly fades back into the non-battle music.
brittle rock always had the best music imo. There is a post on a website somewhere that someone posted in LS chat the other day that had a ton of new FFxiv music teasers on it, sorry, cant remember the site.
I enjoy both new and original musics, no complaints here. :D
