Who the heck is Mr. White Face? I thought he was a meme, is this SB Content or HW content? I missed a lot of stuff as a new player.

There's another Mr White Face who's more likely the one you're thinking of, that's just a player who makes meme videos (really just "Mr Face", but he uses white face paint). Ex: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOBpATa1HUY

The one I'm talking about is a character introduced in Stormblood, unrelated to that guy. I just call him Mr White X Face because I forget his name (I just know it starts with an A: Edit: Looked it up, Arenvald). He's just a side character that shows up sometimes with the Scions, but he's notable because he has the Echo like the player.

Checking forums, casually sipping on a drink, sees Mr. Face mentioned, chokes, laughs.

While Akonyl was referring to Arenvald, for future reference, Mr. Face is the alter ego of Final Fantasy XIV fan video legend Denmo McStronghuge. He's a (mostly) silent roegabro who treads the line between creeper and cool-guy and appears in various comedic contexts. Every now and then on party finder or Twitter, you'll be lucky enough to stumble across an extra / back-up dancer recruitment or some such. For example, random Moose sighting in the video Akonyl just linked, 2m 58s, far left.

Oh yes, Arenvald. I spoke with him whenever I could - I just forgot about his distinct face paint. Silly me.

Good on you Moose, we should all be so lucky to get in a Youtube Music video (or our avater atleast) before the next Umbral Calamity.

We probably dont have him with us because he is simply not strong enough. Having the echo does not make one stronger (only if you are a Garlean somehow..). Otherwise Krile or Minfilia would have been strong too. All the echo ever did (before SB..) was protecting us from being tempered. At least if the WoL goes there alone (or with 7 others if you want to see it that way) they do not have to worry about people like that.

(Who knows maybe all this talk about great fights is all just a way to make others love us and in reality we are just playing some TT against them and are winning all the time °L°)

Mr Face loves it.

They say those things because they care. Simple as that.

Also, the threats keep getting bigger. You never know if there'll be a threat you can't face.

What if every time we die we are actually taking over someone else's body just like that fishman guy who developed some kind of echo...

I believe the echo is probably the strongest power one could have in the world of ffxiv, it's just that... we don't try it that much for whatever reason. At first the echo was just something that gave you some hints of the past,then we learn that it makes us immune to primals influence, then by the end of ARR we learn that you could use it to become virtualy immortal, then now in SB we learn that it can enchance one's combat performance AND is also a stronger version of the primals influence to the point that you could even control primals themselves. Who knows what comes next, and who knows why the hell we don't go and try to develop it ourselves?

@Nezia: Its just strange that the scions or us the WoL never tried to do more with the echo. After everything we saw others do with it, I am kinda curious why we dont try to get better at it? I mean maybe the scions are not interested in that (they just throw us at the problems) but the WoL seems to be a more curious person, so shouldnt they at least try it? Especially when you have the lives of billions of people on your shoulders (as the original world). I do hope that Zenos show awoke an interest in it.
