idk im not really seeing much of a difference

Tried it out - yeah it crashes if you use the default installer-made launcher shortcut. Open up FFXIVBoot directly and it works.

I have to start making screenshots for myself to see if there's a difference, but I can't tell. I'd love to get "free" AA, since the claim of this tool is to give some form of AA with little to no performance hit.

Must do more researching.

The only difference I notice is that it slightly smooths things out, with a tradeoff of an over all blur to everything. That and strange white 80% transparent boxes near the bottom of those screens.

Which is not legal. Like most of visual hacks in game, they are just "DirectX modulation". As soon as you start injecting anything it's not legal anymore.

To me it's just logical, it's a graphic modulation. Were you banned in XI for using .Dats of a mithra's boobs? Nope.

Why wouldn't it be legal? It does nothing but changes the AA. For some, if not all, it's just a question of game performance. It's not like you get some kind of "OH HAI NAO U C MI, NAO U DOWNT!!".

According to this logic, forcing AA through the Nvidia and ATI control panels is also "illegal".

It looks worse than 8xMSAA and uses more resources on my 260GTX =/

edit: nvm that, I forgot to turn off AA before starting it. Ultra looks as good as 8xQMSAA, about the same performace too, but this one also tries to AA text which looks rather weird (look at the artifacts on the name). High looks worse than 8xQMSAA, look at the stairs.

P.S.: can't get exact fps with SMAA cause this method kills both fraps and afterburner ovelays (and their screenshot feature, which is another con for me)

Actually you were if you got reported after bragging (same deal about Windower), as you're tampering with game data which is against ToS (of any company, some aren't strict on it but you CAN get banned for it.)

This is why updates and file checks on POL had a habit of replacing custom .dats because they can check the hash of your dats.

Injecting anything into a game not from the company can result in bans/prosecution (depending on what it's doing) but graphical tweaks and etc companies aren't strict about.
