I agree UnrealTai.
If you complain so dearly about not having a search function, you should probably use it.

i knew even before the patch that ppl will still use the shout and will use it also in version 2.0,its very annoying.
If people want to be inefficient, let them. That's their own damn business. [EDIT: Using shout alone, yes, is inefficient, but a wise person would start using it immediately to complement the search if doing anything more than just looking for exp pick-up parties.] Plus, you have no idea if people have used the search feature before shouting. Did you watch over their shoulder while they tried to start forming a party. What happens if they used a search, found nobody looking for a party (or not on the classes, grand companies, whatever) that they wanted?
You are presuming WAY TOO MUCH here. It would be good to take a step back, check your sense of self-importance, and remember that this is a game that people can play any number of ways.
Reasons to use the Search function
Not limited by zone; Search entire server for desired jobs in level range
Quickly assemble a team to a remote location without having to travel there first
Reasons to Shout
People may be Anonymous (FFXI feature which will probably make its way to XIV)
People may be zoning or just logging in at the time of search - It doesn't update in real time
If no one is seeking, it's a huge list to sift through during peak times looking for a specific job
There are less than 500 people on each server and you know they're all in Ul'dah anyway...
Each has its advantages. Use 'em in tandem. Having 1 or 2 party members help you shout from different zones maximizes shout potential.
Geeze calm down, I dont like the party system really lol so I dont mind shouts, prefer it tbh. Means I have to do less work :D
No one is saying to completely stop shouting for parties, seriously. The OP suggested using the search first, then shouting if you still need to.
The people who really want to party are gonna have their flags up if they know that the search function is there. People who don't like standing around in town for hours are gonna have their flags up. So use the search, get a hold of those people who want to party but don't want to stand around doing nothing, THEN start shouting for members. That's all we're trying to say.
It's silly to shout when there are people seeking party who aren't in shout range.
It would have been a more effective PSA if he didn't call people retards and sheep while doing it. Turn /shout filter on = no more being annoyed by people using shout over search, because they would be oblivious to it. How does he know they didn't try searching first? But no, he wants to whine, complain and insult other users because "obviously" people must be doing it wrong, even though /shouting has its merits, just as much as using the search function does.
Whats funny is before the last patch in WoW they had a system similar to the one in FFXIV now where people could flag themself to seek for raids. Nobody used it instead they just shouted in trade chat. Which in the current patch got replaced with raid finder where people just queue up and get a cross server group.
I see the same thing happening in FFXIV people not using it and continue to shouting. Different games with similar system, and same result.
Wish people would use the party search system though.
here's a solution. instead of posting about it here, just send a courteous tell to the person shouting encouraging them to use the new search feature. if they're unaware of the new feature, chances are they're not frequenting the forums. sooo... i mean, yeah...
