I only cast vercure if I have a dual cast up and the mobs are dead. I usually cast it on the healer for shits and giggles too because I don't want it to go to waste. :)

In all fairness, those are oGCD buffs. Using Vercure costs you a GCD, which is a rather different beast.

First. We don't have a rotation.

Second. I tend to use it for 3-4 reasons.

1. I don't trust the healer to catch me in time
2. I'm simply trying to proc dualcast to rez someone.
3. I somehow end up on the other side of the battle from the healer and am going to be stuck there a few moments due to mechanics.
#3 Probably makes up most of my self healing.
4. Those 'the healer is dead ima be a hero' situations

I don't see how any 3 of those reasons merit the OP's angst.

Well for me it was the other way around. Was doing the first SB dungeon, and the healer went Gravity spamming non stop and didn't heal at all.. What's my little Red Mage to do then? Use Vercure. Solo healed the dungeon next to dpsing and got 3 commendations out of it.

At least some people are happy that Red Mages have a heal as well.

After playing a lot of WHM, there is nothing more frustrating than my heal going to waste on someone, especially now more than ever since I would use a GCD trying to generate a Lily on you. (and they only work if you heal at least 1hp)
The only proper time I as a healer would appreciate a RDM's heals is if everything is clearly going to crap and people are going to start dying. There are healers because you guys take damage. If you guys didn't take damage, then what's the point of having a healer? Yes, you can heal yourselves, but the point of this thread I can tell is, your party is losing a lot more damage by you healing yourself, rather than having the healer heal you.

If you can squeeze heals in without losing damage, or letting yourself or someone else die, then of course it's not a big deal. I don't think the OP is saying that at all.

Of all the "LOL RDM melee" threads i've had to endure in my lifetime, now there are "LOL RDM healz" threads?

Bullet points:

- RDMs do have rotations; it just happens that they are proc and priority-based.

- There are perfectly good ways to use Vercure; this thread was about players who are the RDM equivalent of the Ice Mage or the Physick Arcanist.

- Not sure why people are jumping to defend poor gameplay. The only thing I've attacked here is unnecessary and excessive use of a healing GCD on a DPS class. Some people at least seem to get the humor, I suppose.
