"Default Job Gear" option in Dungeons / Raids

Well... because following that argument you'd also have to disable random jumping for everyone and display everyone with lore appropriate names and... uh... prevent just about anything else that could be considered lore-breaking or un-immersive. Your own name would have to be changed to something more Highlander appropriate.

Truth be told, you'd even have to create a chat filter that transforms messages, as the way we as players talk is a very far shot from the way NPCs commonly do. It's typically not at all lore appropriate.

If you take the argument seriously, it leads to rather funny results.

It can be like in PvP, changing the names in PLD, WHM, MNK and so on.
Or add the job icon to their normal names

Gear alone don't help as identificator, because most time the battle is too zoomed out to see gear details of every party member.

This is definitely possible. SE did it for XI; in XI you have the option to see everyone in base RSE.

I would love this option. As cute as you might think being naked with nothing but a moogle or chocobo head is, it's not something I enjoy seeing. You're free to wear what you wish, of course, but I'd also like to be equally free to hide it.

Exactly, people get to see what they want to see.

Why are you so busy looking at peoples glamour in a raid? O_o

Weapons are plenty visible enough that if you want visual identification, that's all that's necessary.

Sorry, but this request really has no validity to it. The "benefits" you list in favor are not really beneficial in any way.

I don't see the point unless you're trying to minimize the GPU load. In one other game there is the option to "turn off all players but yourself's gear" so they all look like they're wearing single-colored robes. Usually the feature was invoked during raids/field-bosses because the actual processing requirements on the CPU and GPU would bring the game to a grinding halt.

In you have an 8-man run or a 24-main raid, the "stream" compromise would be to use the level 50 relic gear appearance so that they can be identified visually. But as for improving a raid experience, I don't think it does.

eg "During duties show non-party players in relic gear only" (Lowers GPU memory requirements during Duties/Raids/Trials), and "During field exploration, show non-party players in relic gear only" (Lowers GPU memory requirements during FATE's and Hunts), and then in character settings, also have "Show (Own|Party|Other PC|Friends) in Relic gear only"

I don't think that was the point of his argument.

It would be nice if the names had an enforced naming scheme, but we would just run out of names pretty darn quick. Look how quickly the bots managed to do that with the RNG names.

Then there is also the problem of having actual "family names" that repeat but the players having no relation.

With MMORPG's you basically have two options:
- Let everyone create their own names, to hell with the lore
- Enforce the Lore, and explain what the name they've randomly/pseudo-randomly selected means and if they agree with it.

Just about every game goes for the first option because players don't like to follow role-playing rules.

I don't even see how this is an issue. If you need to select a tank, it's in the party / alliance list. If you need to heal someone, their HP bars are there.

This request would make sense...

If all tanks did not share gear.

If all healers did not share gear.

If all casters did not share gear.

If the ranged physical did not share gear.

Also maybe it's a controller thing but when I play tank and or healer, I use the dpad to cycle through party members so I'm looking at their job symbols in the list.

Though, I can get behind what Lukha is saying. If it gets people to shut up and let people glam what they want without "but it ruins my immersion to see a black mage wear a single plate of armor", then sure go ahead and have a vote up.
