It's 2017, when can we get a prominent LGBT character in the storyline?

I'm gay and I'm not INTERESTED in the slightest of getting a gay protagonist in game. As simple as that

Who are we to demand this sort of stuff?

They're not exactly prominent but wasn't the adventurer couple for Wanderer's Palace (hard) gay?
I'm playing with the German client and distinctly remember them mentioning they had to leave their home because of their orientation.

Yeah, I went once to an LGBT pride thinking it would be nice to meet people, I never put a foot there ever again. Seriously, I felt so ashamed to just think that I actually had something in common with those guys.
It feels like western culture is more about porn everywhere while eastern just laught at everything and doesn't take everything too seriously.

Theres some specific thread that, albeit covered up, is basically all about it.

Alphinaud has been in the game (quite a lot) from the start..

I guess you need all sorts of characters for the good ones to really stand out ??? (there are many superb characters and supporting characters, even 'one line' dialogue world characters, and ahem sincerely truly I do not feel like I am forcing myself through every Alphinaud text/cutscene dialogue );)
