Character creation.

I'd bet a lot of people would be happy if more selection were available with what we got. It'd be a start to a character customization with body and facial slider, etc.

How about we just default everyone to look like Odin? No skin no hair. Odin armor....itll be great..

No its ff we need to say thanks that we didnt gor one character per class.

We have sub races, but the sub races for all but Hyur have the same body types and everything. I really wish they would make all the sub races be like Midlander and Highlander :(. It was such a let down that the Au Ra were both the same in body types, the nomadic tribe should look nothing like the race from Doma!

Why should the 2 Au Ra tribes look different? Do irish people and russians look different (except hair color)?

The devs have cited server latency as the biggest reason why they're unwilling to add more customization options. Essentially, each new slider that you add to character creation is one additional value that needs to be piped from the servers to every character that sees your character in game, so that your character can be properly drawn on their screen. Then you multiply that load by the number of characters you see on screen at one time. Even just one additional slider results in a massive boost in the amount of data being sent out at a time.

As a matter of perspective, the devs were similarly concerned about adjusting inventory size - and unlike the potentially hundreds of people who can see your character, only ONE person can see your inventory: You. They're grudgingly giving us a few more inventory slots, but I think it'll be a long, long time before they give us any additional values to play with on our character's appearance.

Isn't it? Last time I played WoW, there weren't sliders or anything like that. Everything was very limited and pregenerated there, too.

Maybe I'm misremembering, but I seem to recall the exact same style of limitations there, likely for the same reasons.

We don't have subraces, im talking like a mix of Miqo'te and Lala for example or Hyur and Elezen as another example.

It's similarly limited style (although unless we try to skew things with race numbers I'm fairly confident that Legion's released creation editor has fewer options than FFXIV's current).
