Hmm, a NPC
You say to the NPC what colour you want and he give you the list of the needed fruits. Then you give him the fruits and he feed the Chocobo for you. With a high chance you will get your wanted colour (with a little chance a colour near the wanted colour).
A stable will still be required
Well the black chocobo is the hardest to get right truth to be told, meanwhile white is the easiest. But yeah, all in all it would be nice to see the system revamped.
It would be nice to have a better system. Not only is this locked behind the stables which means that you either need a house or apartment, but also has some kind of RNG behind it. Changing the color of your chocobo does not help you in other parts of the game, its purely for the player himself. So why does it need to be so complicated? Just have a NPC which will say how many of each fruit he needs and maybe a timer and some gil. With that the fruits can still be sold at the MB but at least you dont need to try all the time.
I'm sure they tried to do like FF7 with a big part of RNG :1 particular choco male + 1 particular choco lady + 1 particular seed = a baby chocobo with another color
But in FF7, if the baby was not the one you wanted, you just had to reboot your PS1 :D
Someone help me! I'm in an endless loop of Deepwood Green to Kobold Brown. I've been at these 2 colors trying to get to Soot Black. At Deepwood Green I need to feed 1 Cieldalaes Pineapple & 1 Valfruit according to that website. At Kobold Brown, I need 2 Doman Plums. Neither has generated Soot Black. I've tried changing it up feeding only 1 and still nothing. What more can I do to get Soot Black?
The fact that the system has a "calculator" at all is evidence enough that the system is screwed up. I wanted to color mine blue but wound up with red instead. Not a big deal really, but it baffles me that the coloring system is as complex as it is. Maybe I'm just dumb.
The problem is not only that you need some kind of "calculator" to get the color you want..but that there is still a portion of RNG mixed into this and thus the calculator can be wrong too..but seeing how LoV turned out..I probably should not be surprised that every little part needs to be way to complicated..
I finally got Soot Black from Deepwood Green after an eternity. I just had switch the order the site said Valfruit 1st, then Pineapples. This system sucks. Please change it for the better of Eorzean kind!
I got soot black and lotus pink on the first try.
More than a revamp to chocobos I wish we could just straight up dye mounts in general. Especially the mechanical ones.
