As someone who has been married ingame for approaching 2 years, while also not being on Balmung and not having roleplayed for many years, am I allowed to say that I actually think the idea is nice? :rolleyes:
Let's not kid ourselves, the interest is there.
The mere fact that the marriage partner hookup thread is one of the biggest and most frequented topics on any of the language forums (yes, the other languages have their own version of said thread) shows that more than obviously.
Last week we got the official 2016 cencus, and while I don't remember the actual number, it was ten thousands of marriages each month.
No matter how much you struggle and try to make jokes about only erping RPers from Balmung being interested in it and ew this game is not about hooking up, thousands upon thousands of players are doing it every month, so stop kidding yourself.
Now as for if I actually want it?
No, not really. Not just because I don't need it, but also because I don't believe in match making (although last year's Valentione event was hilarious, and that was basically matchmaking, just without player input ;)). But would I mind it being introduced for other players?
No, why would I? Finding a partner is such an essential part of life that it makes absolute sense that many players want that in their fantasy life too, and giving them the tools to achieve that doesn't seem wrong to me. -

Otherwise, I think those who want to experience the EB ceremony could benefit from some kind of content that puts potential partners together. However, designing the format of it like a dating website would not be the way to go. I think it should be something pretty simple, and those looking for a marriage partner can put it out there similar to party finder. You can specify desired race, gender, clan and so forth and it will filter out all potential suitors. Send a tell, run a dungeon or two with this person, go to the gold saucer, whatever it is to interact and either proceed, or drop them.Quote:

Can't argue with that. Not everyone finds a partner in a traditional sense. Everyone is different. And in my experience when a game implements a system like this. It's highly unlikely to happen for legal reasons. Such a feature could very easily be abused and you only need to look at how desperate, depraved and manipulative some of the individuals seeking online relationships happen to be. Even if something like this were to go ahead it'd need to be carefully moderated and that just isn't an efficient use of time, money and resources.

Secondly, if it's kept simple it won't take too much developer resources. I'm not sure I want any "hook up" icons and whatnot. Perhaps the Party Finder could have it's own segment for EB seekers. They already have cross realm technology so it would be a channel to reach a lot of people.Quote:
