Not exactly, that would create an imbalance if there are only 2 jobs this expansion.

With RDM being compared to SMN/BLM, it's the new Range/mage job that now makes it part of the 3 of x job type.

We currently have 3 tanks, 3 healers, 3 DPS, 2 range/mage and 2 range/physical

So it's possible that the next job announced is connected to brd and machinist archetype rather than being a tank or a support.

There is - they showed how you start with ranged magic, then use an ability to dash in and fire off melee abilities, then leap back out to unleash a big attack that you've been building toward. Looks like it will fun to play, though I imagine mastering moving in and out and dealing with various boss abilities while doing the rotation will be interesting.

Them animations aren't quite selling me. For a ranged DPS it looks awfully ready to stab someone rather than cast a spell.

I'll have to see it when they do a debut video. I hope it's less static than BLM, and less DoTty than SMN.

Edit: Just saw the RDM sample clip, it looks pretty awesome, animations look way better in action than in screenshots.

And they do the flower petal thing. THE FLOWER PETAL THING

No, it means that the other one should be a STR (dps) class.

VIT (tank): DRK, WAR, PLD
MND (heal): AST, WHM, SCH
INT (dps): BLM, SMN, RDM
DEX (dps): BRD, MCH, NIN
STR (dps): DRG, MNK, ???

3 tanks, 3 caster, 3 healer, 2 ranged phys, 2 melee phys... so it doesn't matter if it's ranged or melee, but since it should be STR I suppose a melee dps job.

RDM is my new main~

I can't wait to hear all the complaints about the dps queues if we get 2 dps classes and nothing else.
Luckely I only play tank. ^^

Especially since it will be 2 classes alot of people have asked for for a long time, so we know alot of people will go dps (atleast at first).

I still feel if we got SAM it'd be our next STR/melee DPS. Sharing gear slot with DRG for heavy armor.

the only ones who'll complain are the healers and tanks that goes DPS.
DPS mains are used to long queue times.:p

I can relate. After HW when I tried out MCH I became restless after 5 min of waiting. -haha-
Even worse if I queue as a tank and have to wait 2 min. =P
