Umbrite post next patch...

Im about 75% done with the quest now after...heck i dont know how long...i feel like ive been working on nothing but this relic step for months and my alt classes are suffering for gear because of it. (im slowly replacing gear from dungeons)

I'm still really irked that the 2nd half has the chance to give you up to +6 but since its good ol RNG ive had it bonus exactly once.

Ok to be fair im still irked about the whole thing so i really hope the next patch corrects this. No one should have to grind nothing but tomes for so long. Its so uninteresting. The sands are actually kind of cool that you can turn in or do like 10 different things. But again not umbrite :P

There are a bunch of ways to get tomes for umbrite but the amount you need dwarfs what you can get done in a day before you go crazy. I think when it came out it was....okish since you had lots to do story wise, new people running things and you getting extra tomes....but now its just stagnant.

The umbrite step is worse than I remember. It feels like you put in a lot of time and effort to get a tiny, almost zero amount of progress because it wants such an insane amount of tomes. And the amount of tomes is the same each time you repeat the quest. I don't think these type of multi-week grinds should make you spend 100% the same amount of time on repeats when you go back to do other weapons. There isn't enough content to last through getting hundreds of thousands of tomestones; it is too many hundreds of repeat runs of the same dungeons to upgrade multiple anima weapons. And if we aren't supposed to collect and upgrade many weapons then why is it repeatable and giving unique achievements for every upgrade of every weapon.

Just do what I do: dump excess tomes you accumulate over time into it. I don't bother buying the lore mats, I just dump lore straight into umbrite. I've got a good 30 sitting on a retainer at the moment and it's already at about 81 progress.

Considering Umbrites are more or less equal to Alexandrites, we'll probably get a Daily quest next patch for a map or something.

There is rarely any excess when it comes to Lore tomes (unlike poetics but then i turn those into a quick sands when i end up with 500)

As for the step before umbrite...yes i would suggest you just save them for umbrite vs the oil's but its going to be a far cry from the 24000 lore your going to need :P
