PSN and FFXIV: why pay twice?

Only that PSN being sucky and down most of the time - which isn't even true btw- doesn't mess with your game time like many have posted. You don't have to console shame because you don't like it. Not everyone can afford or wants to game on a PC. No need for hate bro.

For this very reason I usually put my PS4 into rest mode while still logged in (on the "start" screen) to skip login & psn check. Works a charm especially when psn goes down. First time in a week I turn it off last night and this happens lmao.

Plus majority of other replies are correct. No PS+ is needed to play FFXIV.

OMG I am having a heart attack, so we don't need PS+ for FFXIV? This is fantastic!
I wasn't fully blaming SE btw, I fully blame Sony for being so greedy. Yes SE could have gotten a better deal with PS+ but guys, disregard that since I was misinformed!
When I switched from laptop to Playstation, one of the registration screens did say I needed to activate an account in PS+ in order to play online games, never said anything about if the game had already a subscription it wasn't needed.

Yep that's correct.

Games with their own subscription model, or games that are "free to play" (such as Warframe) are not subject to PS+ requirements for online play

I for one dislike it greatly. I got my gf the PS4 account but she ended up hating it. I cant use it though for my account so now we're stuck using my laptop...which was another payment -.-

As many people in this thread said. You don't need PSN+ for FFXIV.

You need psn to license check your copy of ffxiv. Never had psn+.

You can't be logged in on two different devices under a single account anymore, but you can have multible devices on one account if you purchased the liscenses for it. If the issue was you wanted to both play together at once with one monthly sub, you can't.

I'm also a player on PS4 without PS+. I watch Youtube, use the internet, and have played FFXIV, Overwatch, and Destiny without it just fine. It's pretty much a waste of money unless you score a bunch of free games you enjoy in a row.
